We were leaving yet another family reunion, this one for Drew's birthday. It had been frustrating but immensely more bearable, fun almost, with James by my side, helping me whenever gran decided to order me to do something, arguing with my aunts when they said I 'wasn't looking very well' (yes, a promotion from 'horrible', I noticed) saying things like 'I think she looks lovely, as always' and just holding my hand or having an arm over my shoulder the whole time. But now this was over and I could take a deep breath.
"Thank you for your help!" My mum said as she said goodbye to us at the door. She gave James a quick hug and moved on to hug me tightly. "Take care of yourself." She whispered in my ear. I told her that Drew knew all about the breakdowns but she felt like she needed to be discreet about it for some reason.
"I will," I said and moved on to hug Drew. "Call me when you need us to help you with the moving," I told him. Drew was finally getting an apartment of his own, no he wasn't staying at home with mum and Livia and no he wasn't staying with the devil's spawn! He was on his own. And he seems alright with it, as he should!
"I will, thanks." He said and hugged me and gave James a quick pat on the back.
"Goodbye Liv, call me if one of your friends needs a tour around Oxford, I can try and make a tour of the best locations for brilliant matchmaking." I joked.
"Oh, will you get off my back about it?" She said with a laugh but hugged me back.
After James and Livia had hugged we walked to his car and he opened the door for me before walking to his side.
"Your place or mine?" He asked me. "I can't wait till we don't have to ask that anymore!" He said happily and I couldn't help but agree. After I finished my degree in 6 months we would move in together to a house that was (very much) on the outskirts of London, it would probably be a 40 minute or more commute to work for both of us. I didn't have a job yet but I had applied for some things in London and scheduled an interview with the ones interested. The only difference between what was happening now would be that instead of constantly changing from one apartment to the other so we could be together, we would simply stay in one. Thank God.
"I can't wait till I don't have to ask you to go to my place because I forgot some books there," I confessed and he laughed and kissed my temple before starting the car. Getting the cue brilliantly.
"No problem, Flower. We'll just stay there for the rest of the weekend. I can help you study."
"Yes! And cuddle!"
"Yeah, I think you deserve little spoon today." He chuckled.
"I bloody well deserve!" I agree. "But you were amazing today so I think we can do something more rewarding to you too before we spoon," I say and rest my hand on his thigh.
"Christ, Flower, be careful! I'm driving and you're too distracting." He says and I chuckle. "But I like the plan. Get home, tire us out in the best way possible- I can do that thing you like- and spooning." He says and just the mention gets me flustered.
"When you say that thing I like do you mean that fantastic risotto you cook or...?" I joke and he laughs.
"I was thinking of the second thing, but we can do that too afterwards..." He agrees.
"Can I sing while we cook?" I ask smiling brightly.
"Well, I just don't think it would come out as good if we don't don't give it our best, completely deftone, performance of whatever song comes on shuffle." He says and we both laugh.
Mum was right, we were the luckiest.
A/N: So here it is. The end of this story. I hope that the few who read it enjoyed it. If you'd like it would be much appreciated if you could vote for it.
I am already working on another story (maybe 2) but I like to write the whole thing first and then post it as I edit it. The next story is a whole lot bigger than this one and a bit different. I might even like it more, so stay tuned for that. And I even had an idea for a part 2, a book 2, or whatever you want to call it, for this story, so if you got this far and you'd like to see that please comment below or send me a message or whatever you prefer.
Last but definitely not least, THANK YOU FOR READING!
