All I hear is my alarm blasting. It's too early. I don't want to get up. Even though I get to see Peter I still don't have the energy to get up. I hit the snooze button and decide to give myself two more minutes.
That two minutes turned into one hour. I'm woken up by my phone ringing.
"Hello...?" I ask trying to hide the fact that I just got up.
"Anna? Where are you?" I hear Peter ask.
"What do you mean?"
"Anna! You're late! You're never late!"
"What?! Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! I'll be there in ten minutes." I shout as I hang up.
I run into the bathroom and quickly start getting ready. I know I don't have much time but I look horrible. I quickly put some concealer on, hoping to hide the huge bags under eyes. I grab my bag, and run out to my car.
When I get there, 20 minutes later, I rush into Peter's office.
"Anna, what happened?"
"I... I don't know! My... My alarm didn't go off! I'm so sorry!"
"You know of all people what happens when... Hey are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm okay, I guess."
"Anna, you look awful. What's wrong?"
"Are you asking as my boyfriend or as my boss?"
"Boyfriend, now please tell me."
"I'm exhausted. I hit the snooze button, and I guess I slept through it when it went off again."
"Alright, how about you go home and sleep."
"I can't! I think I may have found something in the case, I just need to double check it."
"Alright, double check and then let me know. After all that, you are going home. No questions asked."
"Fine."
I slowly walk out of his office and collapse into my chair. I'm so tired, I don't know if I can make it much longer. I just need to figure this case out. Soon I find something and rush back into Peter's office.
"Peter!"
"Anna... What's wrong?"
"I... I found something!"
"Great! What is it?"
"The victim. He... He owed this man a lot of money. 500k to be exact."
"Does this man have a name?"
"Jason Hegemony."
"Tell Dawson and Nagal to go get this guy in here for questioning. Good work Anna."
I quickly hurry out and update Dawson and Nagal. They quickly grab their badges, and guns before hurrying out. I make my way back to Peter's office, wondering what else he needed me to do.
"Peter, is there anything else?"
"There is one thing."
"What is it?"
"Lay down on my couch and rest. Anna, you need to take care of yourself. And that includes getting enough sleep."
"But the case!"
"But the case can wait till after you rest for a few minutes."
"I will after we charge this guy." I say as I walk out of his office without giving him a chance to respond.
I sit down at my desk and look at my computer. I have an email. I check it, only to see that an anonymous sender gave me some evidence. Evidence that proves Jason Hegemony guilty. I forward it to Peter before looking at the stack of papers on my desk. I decide I should get a head start on those, knowing after Jason Hegemony's arrest I'll have even more.
Peter POV:
I can't believe Anna managed to get this kind of evidence. It's huge. I get up from my desk and go out so I can thank her. As I approach her desk I notice her head on top of her papers.
"Hey, Anna, I just wanted to thank you for that evidence... Anna?"
No movement. I squat down next to her chair and start rubbing her back.
"Anna? Sweetie?"
She lifts her head up slightly and looks at me obviously very confused.
"What..?" She asks still very out of it.
She was asleep. Of course. I should of known from the moment I saw her.
"Hey, it's alright. How about you lay down in my office for a bit. You'd be much more comfortable."
"I... I was sleeping?"
"Yeah sweetie you were. Now come on." I say as I help her up.
She leans on me as I help her into my office. I carefully lie her down and cover her with a blanket.
"Just sleep. I'll wake you if anything happens."
She gives me a very slight nod before falling fast asleep. She needs this. We've had so many late nights. And getting up at 5:30 every morning isn't helping. She should take the day off tomorrow, but I know she won't. For now I'm just glad that she's sleeping.
AN: Wow. Another chapter in a couple of hours? I did not expect this myself. I really enjoyed writing this and I hope you guys enjoyed! I really needed to write this after a wonderful surprise. I went onto You Tube wanting to watch some scenes. Only to find this:
