(Yes I know Better Off Dead wasn't their first song, yes I know they didn't start as SWS, yes I know members have come and gone. It's an alternate universe for a reason)

(Also this chapter includes a lot of lyrics. You can skip the lyrics if you know the song, which hopefully you do. If you don't...)

Eight weeks pass

He finally finished Better Off Dead. The nurses feared for Vic's survival and told Kellin to at least continue his life. He did. Though not yet official, he and his friends recorded a song, unreleased, under the name of Sleeping With Sirens. Now, though, Kellin was once again perched on the chair next to Vic.

"He said he wants to end it all
When he's all alone in her room
He cries, the way he feels inside
Is too much for him,"

he sung softly to Vic, entwining their fingers. The cold hadn't scared him since the second time he felt the older boy's tan skin.

"When all you've got is these four walls
It's not that hard to feel so small
Or even exist at all."

The song he had written specifically for Vic. Vic and the last words he had ever heard spoken in that beautiful voice.

"I'm better off dead anyway."

The memory was enough to stir the sadness in Kellin's heart.

"How come no one heard him when he said:
Maybe I'm better off dead
If I was, would it finally be enough
To shut out all those voices in my head?
Maybe I'm better off dead
Better off dead..."

He felt tears slipping past his defenses and he clutched Vic's limp hand closer.

"Did you hear a word, hear a word I said?
This is not where I belong
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
Gone, gone
This is not where I belong
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone."

He let the tears flow freely now. Who cared? He was alone in this damned world anyway.

"He doesn't know he's beautiful
Cause no one's ever told him so
And the demons that he hides
Are all he knows
And maybe he can fall in love
With someone in his life that he could trust
And tell him he's enough..."

His voice broke and his tears turned into fully crying. He buried his face into his hands, releasing Vic's hand. Vic had always been enough. He had been through so much. Mike had told him of all the times Vic came in to save his younger brothers, getting punished himself.

"You can sing so beautifully..."
