Chapter 20: Protecting Hondou Eisuke

"Hey, Ran-san," Eisuke called.

"What is it, Eisuke-kun?" Ran asked.

"Why did I think my luck has increased?" Eisuke asked.

"Eh? Why do you think so?" Ran asked back.

"Well, recently, I've almost never bump into something or even falling over something." Eisuke explained.

Ran giggled, "What do you think about it, Sonoko?" She turned to Sonoko beside her.

"Well, who knows." Sonoko smirked.

"W-w-w- why are you looking me like that?" Eisuke stutered.

"In my opinion it's because of Rei-san there," Sonoko said.

"Ah, that's right!" Ran agreed.

"Eh? Really?" Eisuke asked.

"What are you guys talking about?" Rei suddenly appeared with a flat face.

"UWAAA!!!" Eisuke almost fall from his chair. Almost. Rei's hands prevent him from falling. She grapped his shirt and pull him back up to his chair.

"Stupid." She commented.

"Ah." Eisuke stuttered, dumbfounded, "T-thank you."

"But what are you guys doing here? In the library?" Rei asked.

"Is there something wrong with it?" Sonoko asked back.

"Nothing, but it's rare for you guys to be at the library." Rei shrugged, "Especially you, princess."

"What does that supposed to mean?" Sonoko blushed, embarrased.

"Nothing." Rei turned back. Isn't it time for you guys to go home. It's almost dinner time already."

"Ah! That's true!" Ran checked her watch, "I must go back to prepare dinner."

"I must go too!" Sonoko said as both of them ran out from the library.

"Don't you need to go?" Eisuke asked Rei.

"How about you?" Rei asked back.

"Well," Eisuke hestitated to answer.

"It's not like there's anybody home waiting for me." Rei said, "Is that your reason?"

"Ah.... well, maybe?" Eisuke answered.

"Come on. The library will be closed soon." Rei said.

"Okay."

"Hey, Hikaru," Rei called him in front of the library, "Let's go."

The three of them walked in silence.

"So," Eisuke started the conversation, "Where do you live? Hikaru-san? Rei-san?"

"Somewhere nearby." Rei answered.

'Is that even an answer?' Hikaru thought, sweatdropped.

"How about you, Hikaru-san?" Eisuke asked.

"I live in an apartment." Hikaru answered.

"Ah! Is that so." Eisuke exclaimed.

'This silence sure is awkward.' Hikaru thought.

"Ah this is where I live!" Eisuke suddenly said, "Then, I'll go! See you tomorrow!"
