Chapter 21: The Plan

A/N: I'm really sorry for not updating in a long time! I was busy with school and other things. Oh! And the exams are drawing near, so I might not be able to update in a long time again. Hontouni gomennasai!

"Then, see you tomorrow." Rei said as she speed up.

"Wait!" Hikaru suddenly called.

"Hm? What?" Rei asked.

"It's okay to smile and laugh, you know?" Hikaru said, "It s-s-suits you well."

"Ah! Sorry for saying strange things!" Hikaru ran away.

'Stupid!' He thought, 'What did I just say?'

Rei blinked, seeing Hikaru's back as he run away.

'Weird.' She thought as she walked back, 'What have gotten into him today?'

Rei's phone rings,

"Shu-nii? Wonder what happened?" Rei mumbled as she picked her phone.

"Hello?" She said.

"Rei, strategy meeting, go to Haido hospital ASAP!" Akai's voice is heard through the phone.

"Okay." Rei answered as she hung up.

Haido Hospital

"So, what is it?" Rei asked a FBI agent who she passed when she arrived at the hospital.

"Hm? What are you talking about?" He asked back.

"Ah.. Nothing." Rei said. 'That Shu-nii did something behind the FBI's back again, huh? This'll be interesting.' She thought, "Did you see agent Akai somewhere?" She asked.

"No one had seen him today." The agent answered, "He even skipped his guard shift."

"Ah, I see." She said, "Thanks."

'No one has seen him today, huh? Then he really had some sort of plan.' She thought, 'He must be on the roof, if he's not there, then someone should have seen him.' She walked to the roof to confirm her thought.

"You really are here." She said as she found him.

"I expected you to find me." Akai, leaning on the wall, said.

"I do expect you to be here." Rei said, "But what in the world is this boy doing here?" She asked pointing at the said boy.

"Hehehe," The said boy scratched the back of his head, "It's okay isn't it Rei-neesan?" He said.

"Ah, whatever. What's the plan?" Rei asked.

"Bring the prince to wake up the sleeping beauty." Akai said in perfect English.

"It's thanks to your information Rei-neesan." The boy, Edogawa Conan, said.

"Ah... I understand." Rei nodded. "Let's do this."

A few nights after

"Ah! Rei-san?" Eisuke exclaimed as he spotted Rei's figure.

"C-Conan-kun, too?" Eisuke exclaimed again.

Conan and Rei gave him some short explanation, but when Eisuke wanted to ask more,

"Hold up." Akai said, suddenly appeared, "That's all we can allow you to know. Camel, handle him,"

"W-wait a second, I still have things to say," Eisuke said as Camel forced him to get out, "It seems that the strategy meeting is about to start." Camel said.

"Then lock the boy up in an empty room and go to the meeting first," Akai said, "I'll be right there when we came to an agreement here...Then move like how I instructed on phone earlier."

"Roger!" Camel replied.

"Now, Hidemi-neesan." Rei turned to her, "I've done my job. The next is up to FBI."

"Thank you." Hidemi said.

"Now, I wonder if you're familiar with me?" Akai asked her.

"Of course," Hidemi answered, "Akai Shuichi, the FBI agent that the organization fears the most..." She turned to Rei, "Alongside with Fujimara Reika of course. I'm quite shocked to learn that it's you, Maria-chan."

"I'll take that as a compliment." Rei shrugged.

"Now that you know us, this'll make things easy." Akai said, "Shall we get to the main point."

"Before that, would you tell me, how did you know?" Hidemi asked, "That I'm a CIA agent."

"Your habit," Rei answered simply.

Then Conan explained to her about her habit that the CIA usually used.

"Ah, I see," Hidemi said when Conan finished his explanation, "But how'd you know about my dad."

"That wasn't easy, just knowing that his last name is 'Hondou'." Akai said, "But you forget that we have the access to the world's secret right here." He said again, turning his head to Rei, "She managed to see the similarity about you and your brother on the first glance, and she investigated it on her own, and didn't tell the FBI anything..."

"This boy acquired the info that he might be a member of the company." Akai continued.

"But you probably never thought that I would kill..." Hidemi started, but got but off by Akai.

"Your own father?" He said, "Rei did a great part in it, she noticed what actually happened easily."

"I've always knew you were great, Rei-chan," Hidemi said, "But I never thought you're great to that extent."

"Again, I'll take that as a compliment," Rei said.

"You too," Hidemi once again turned to Conan, "You noticed don't you? That I regained consciousness.."

'Rather than great,' Rei thought as Conan started explaining about how he noticed it and about how he knew Eisuke is there, 'I would say I'm reckless, hacking is a crime too.'

'About tomorrow,' She thought again, 'I guess I'll get prepared...' A small smirk goes unnoticed by anyone in the room, 'For tomorrow.'

"Eh... You're really amazing..." Hidemi's voice snapped Rei out from her thoughts.

"Yes... to the degree that we're speechless." Akai replied.

"Then? What are you planning to do?" Hidemi asked, "The organization is coming to rescue me, right?"

"Yeah," Akai answered, "For that, I have a suggestion.."

"You aren't going to tell me..." Hidemi said, "To go back to the organization once again, are you?"

"Of course," Akai replied, "That's exactly what I wanted to say."

"I see.." Came Hidemi's reply.

Akai explained their plan to Hidemi. Then, he got out from the room to the strategy meeting.

"Hm? Where are you going?" He asked Rei when he saw that she's going to the opposite direction.

"Home." Rei replied simply.

"Don't you want to go to the strategy meeting?" Akai asked, "Strategy is one of your strong points anyway." He added.

"Nah.." Rei replied lazily, "I'll just prepare for tomorrow."

"You're not planning something, are you?" Akai asked.

"What if I do? What will you do?" Rei returned the question, "Ah, no... What can you do?"

"So you do have a plan," Akai said, not bothering to answer her question, since he knew he can't do anything when Rei had made up her plan.

"Go ahead to the strategy meeting," Rei said, "You're already late." She stated again.

Akai nodded and leave Rei to the strategy meeting.

'At last,' Rei thought as she got on her motorcycle, 'At last our fateful duel will be continued,' She smirked under her helmet, 'My dear Gin.'
