Not Chapter 10, But Not Chapter 11
Today is the first day I experienced true home sickness.
Scrolling through my Instagram feed had me sick with longing as I hopelessly liked all the photos of my friends who enjoyed their last summer before senior year.
I've been too caught up in everything down here that I didn't take the time to notice the stark contrast between Saint Paul and New Orleans. I mean Minnesota is all the way at the top and Louisiana is all the way at the bottom. Big difference.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely ADORE living in New Orleans, but I'll miss going to the state fair every year and hanging out on Grand Avenue shopping and eating.
Sighing, I reached for my special box filled with pictures and a whole bunch of other random stuff that I collected over the years with my friends. The first thing I took out was a picture of me and Alex snuggled up at Cafesjian's Carousel on one of the chariots. I smiled slightly at the memory.
Next was a picture of me and three of my friends on Halloween last year. We dressed up as the plastics and wore our outfits to school. I was Cady, Amber was Gretchen, Trisha was Karen, and Cameron was Regina.
Cameron wanted to be Regina George so badly that she dyed her hair blonde a week before Halloween just so she could "channel her inner Regina". The light hair was so strange with Cameron's dark skin, but she could pull of literally anything. Just think about
Gabrielle Union in Bring It On, but prettier and sassier. That's Cameron.
Trisha basically was the Karen of the group. She is really ditsy, but super smart in school. I don't know how she does it, but it helps her pick up girls. Don't know don't ask.
When she came out freshman year, she made a pass at me because she thought I was also gay. Afterwards, I started dating Alex and it was awkward for like a month, but we got over it. Trisha is very hot actually with her almond eyes, caramel complexion, and jet black straight hair that reaches her waist.
If I was a lesbian, I'd totally date her. We would have some beautiful blasain/white babies. Just saying.
My phone vibrated next to me and I looked down at it to see an incoming FaceTime call from Blaine, Cameron's boyfriend.
Squealing in delight, I pressed answer and smiled into the camera. Cameron, Amber, Trisha, and Blaine's faces popped up on my phone.
"Dang girl! Why you smiling so hard?" Amber laughed into the camera.
"Right! I can see all up her nose!" Cameron exclaimed!
"I just miss you guys so much! I literally was just looking through pictures and stuff of us! This is so ironic!"
Trisha giggled slightly, "No it's not, actually. You were liking all of our pictures on Instagram and your brother just sent Blaine a video of you in a ball crying about Minnesota?" She cocked her head to the side. Trisha has the type of voice that sounds like she's asking a question all the time but she is just making a statement.
"Anyways! We miss you too beeyotch! I heard you got some sexy southern man candy down there. Has anyone been going "down there" lately?" Cameron asked suggestively.
I laughed and smiled harder than I have since I left Minnesota.
