daniel's POV ~
i wake up to my phone vibrating. why this early? probably a audio recording. but i pull it to my ear anyway. hoping it's lane. i answering and wear a girl whimpering. lane? i ask. daniel i need you. her voice says trembling. okay i'll be over. i say sweetly. don't hang up. she says. okay i won't. i text an uber. and i drive to lane. she beeps me up. i'm still on the phone. telling her i'm right here. don't be scared. i get to her door. so familiar. she answers. her face red. tears staining her skin. she runs toward me. and i hold her tightly. we stand here. and then she explains her nightmare. i nod and take her to her bed. i tell her everything is okay and i'll be on the couch. i as soon as i start to walk away i hear. no daniel please stay with me i need you. those words. so tempting. i turn around and climb into her bed. wrapping my arms around her. then the words that taint my heart. that i've worked to get over. come out... "daniel i love you..."
