CHAPTER FIVE

I headed to the apartment which I have rented since I know I'll be staying here until we get married. They are persuading me to accept the house they bought but I refused, then they asked me to stay at the palace but I refused still. I know that will be a hot issue and it is against the customs of my country.

The unit that I had was fully furnished, a big factor why I liked it. I took a rest so that I'll have energy when I meet with the royal family later at dinner time to finalize things about the wedding. Less than a month. That's all I have.

Almost everything has been settled now and yes, in less than a month we will be married. Even though Jeanne is second to the throne he attracts a lot of media, he's been caught clubbing, chatting with women and even closing business deals. I usually see him as front covers of tabloids, but I never read any of them. I don't really mind if he wants to go out and enjoy his life, that's his right anyway.

I received my tickets back to Lexumbia just a week after I went home, telling me that this is really going to push through. When I resigned, I started going home in my parent's place and against my will I started looking after the family business, which made all of them happy.

On that week also, finally, Dad and I had the heart to heart talk which I knew was going to happen, he lectured me about life but unlike mom he was calmer, and unlike granny he was factual, no romance or imagination involve, just experiences and facts. At that night when we talked he hugged me and told me that I've had enough and I'm old enough for him to decide for me.

It was around seven when I arrived at the Palace, I wish Laureen and Laurent will be coming. I really like them both; they are so charming and wise kids. I headed to the dining room, I came earlier than them. This will be the first time we'll see each other again after I left to go back to Manila; the time when I told them I understand if they can't accept me.

I saw Duchess Marie coming in, when will she give me a I-don't-like-you look? She's always warm and I can feel her love for me, though she barely know me.

"Kathy, are you ready to prepare for your wedding?" Right.

I answered with a smile "Yes auntie" Is he ready for it?

"By the way, we forgot to talk about the pre-nuptial agreement" I said. I forgot to talk about it last time, maybe because I was too pre-occupied.

"There will be no pre-nuptial." Jeanne said, coming out of nowhere, walking straight to us and kissed her mom and my hand.

I smiled, a fake one of course. His action is sweet, I said at the back of my mind sarcastically. "I think we should talk about it" I tried to sound so good and charming, but not seductive. Why will I try to seduce him? I mentally rolled my eyes.

"It's a not issue" he said. "There will be none"

"But, it is not just...I mean...Your wealth is too much"

"Kathy, you will be a part of our family" Duchess replied. I can't believe his mom will not consider my offer, or even ask for a minute so they can talk about it.

"But let's be practical, that will be inconvenient for Jeanne" I really want to roll my eyes.

"I do not want a pre-nuptial agreement." Jeanne said, he stands firm with his decision. He's not angry, just casually talking to me.

"Jeanne I know you're not sure of your decision" I said, having a sharp edge on what I said. I'm getting serious about it.

"I'm definitely certain."

I sighed in surrender. Adamant man. "Auntie, I think you should also decide about this."

"You better talk about that, just the two of you" I can't believe she just let us talk about this on our own. Jeanne walked towards the terrace, he was cool, not pissed at all. He was looking at the sky. I know he's waiting for me to talk.
