(in this story, your name is Lux. It means light if u don't know :3)

It was a sunny day at The Farm. I was just wandering around like some of the other guardians. While they came here to see Hawthorn or check on their family that hadn't moved back, I was here to protect it. It seems Zavala, Cayde and Ikora took a liking to this place and made sure that there was at least one guardian here to protect it. Hawthorne protested at first, but then she realized she wouldn't always be at The Farm. And since I was one of the people she trusted most, AND a guardian, she let me be the leader in her absence. I normally ran I tight ship, but I was out of it today. And the only thing that made me feel different was the speaker.

We'd been keeping "us" on the downlow. While I was a beginner guardian I went to him for advice and such, and I guess we grew close. Until we became "us"

It was a pretty stormy day at the Tower and I'd just come back from a mission. A mission that would define me for the rest of my life.

My fireteam was composed of Aaron, and Halo(i'm gonna let y'all figure out what class you wanna be. I ain't gonna get caught up in a warlock/hunter/titan master race argument. Even though warlocks are the NOVA bomb. Heh. :3)

Those guys were the light of my life. Aaron was a cocky son of a gun but he got was efficient. And Halo was the shyest guy I've ever known. And you can figure out how the patrol went. It was a routine patrol. Go to Nessus, mess up some Vex lives, and come home. Except Aaron and Halo didn't.

The Vex somehow infected Halo's ghost and Aaron tried to fix it; except he got infected and only made it worse. I told them to go wait in the ship and that i'd handle it, but they agreed that fireteam's stuck together for life. Or death. Halo got shot and Aaron tried to protect him. They both died and I made a mad dash for the ships and I got myself outta there.

It only hit me when I was sending my transmission back to Hawthorne that i'd failed and that my team was dead. The only thing I had were their ships.

After I reported to the Vanguards, I tried to calmly walk to the Speaker. At this point I called him Matt because guardians called him mask, and that was the closest name to mask I could think of.

I jogged to his study and ran up the stairs, tripping on the 3rd stair. I just crumpled and cried. He ran to me and hugged me. I just cried. I couldn't think of anything or anyone but Aaron and Halo.

And ever since that day, we seemed closer.

As I was reminiscing, Hawthorne got off a ship and ran towards me. She was the only one that knew about Matt and I.

"LUX,LUX!"

"I here ya loud and clear."

"We finally found the Speaker."

Her words shook me to my core. After months of being off the grid and me basically crying myself to sleep, he decided to show up.

Part of me was pissed, and part of me was overjoyed. So I just chose overjoyed.

"Where is he?? When can I see him???"

"We can go to the Wall and you can visit right now if you want." Hawthorne said as she smirked, knowing how she had me wrapped around her finger.

"You mother-"

"I'll take that as a yes, we're going right now." She said as we both sprinted towards her ship, eager to see the Speaker.

When we got to the Wall we ran so fast, I thought i'd cause a sonic boom.

He was sitting near Ikora when we got to her. I wanted to laugh, cry and yell at him for the same time. So I stood there speechless, with my mouth halfway open.

His eyes locked on mine as we stared. I'd never seen his face before and it had so many cuts and bruises from the torture he went through. I wanted to bring Ghaul back to life, and then kill him again.

We all stood there making awkward conversation until everyone slowly filed out. So it was just Matt and I.

I took no time getting up and hugging him. He was at least a head taller than me, but i didn't mind.

"I'm sorry..."

"Don't apologize for something you can't help."

" No, I mean sorry for never saying the things i meant. For always being a limp noodle and never actually telling you."

"Telling me what?" I asked as I looked at his freakishly green eyes.

"That I love you Lux. I always have and will."

I stood rigid at his confession. It's not every day the patriarch of the last city telling you that he loves you. And it's not everyday that you kiss him back, hoping he never puts that stupid mask back on.

BONUS:

"Ay, yo Matt?"

"yeah?" He yelled from his room in the apartment we now shared.

"I didn't know you were such a savage."

"wut."

"You literally told Ghaul to commit seppuku(Kill himself)."

"Lux, you have issues."

"Says the person who told a feared warlord to go kill himself."

"You always like to have the last word don't you Lux."

"Yep. That ain't changing anytime soon."

A/n: hewow guys. Requests are open btw. Idk if I put that in the description, but they are!
