TWO WEEKS LATER
ALI'S POV
I walk to the auditorium because of some "important" meeting the performing arts class is having. I walk inside and take the seat next to my friend, Jay Manning. He has tanned skin, brown eyes and black tousled hair. Jay has a really great singing voice but if you just look at him without knowing him, you'll think he is some sort of quiet badass, but he's really a funny guy.
I smile back at him then we both turn our attention back to director.
"Alright class. We have a big show case coming up. Which means we'll have big time agents coming to watch our top students perform. So practice your butts off. This will make or break you."
My face lights up like a candle causing Jay to chuckle next to me.
"A little excited are we Alliecat?" he asks with a smirk.
"Alliecat? Really? You sound like my grandmother." I laugh.
He returns the smile and we continue listening in on the announcements until it's time to leave.
Jay walks with me out of the auditorium. We laugh until he becomes serious, which is rare for Jay so I was worried.
"Ali, I need to ask you something. I know we're friends and all, but I was wondering if you wanted to go grab dinner and a movie Friday night?" he asks with a shy smile. It's an adorable look on him.
A date? With Jay? I can't lie and say I don't find him attractive because I do but I can't do that to Zac.
"Oh. um Jay...I really appreciate it but-"
"But you don't like me that way. It's okay I guess. But umm I have to get to class so see ya around I guess." he says with a sad smile as he walks away from me.
I don't want to hurt him but I don't want to do that to Zac. I really care about him.
I begin walking back to my room when I see him. He always looks so good especially in his dark jeans and blue shirt that makes his eyes pop. His eyes connect with mine and a grin breaks out on his face. I smile back at him as he makes his way over to me.
"Hey," he says with a smile and all I can think is how much I want to kiss him.
"Hey yourself. Let's go get some coffee before class." I reply.
"Or we can kiss the time away." He whispers in my ear. Always the cheeseball.
I giggle as we continue to walk to the coffee shop. We grab our drinks and head to the empty field where we're alone and we sit under a tree. He begins to lean in until his lips meet mine. Why can't we do this in public? Why can't he be with me in front of everyone. Oh yeah, because you told him not to break up with your best friend for you, you idiot.
He pulls away and stares into my eyes and I get lost in his.
"I want to be with you, you know that right?" he says.
"I know. But Alex is my best friend you can't do that to her."
"But you can make out with your best friend's boyfriend behind her back?" He snaps. Wow. Harsh much?
I'm taken back by that and he realizes this as his eyes soften and he begins to apologize.
"Save it. I'll see you in class." I says as I get up to leave. His words really hurt, even though I know they were true. What kind of a friend am I?
"Ali you know I didn't mean that." he says.
"Yes you did Zac and it's true. I'm a terrible friend. Maybe we should end this." I suggest.
"We're not ending this. Not right when I got you."
"You don't have me Zac. We're just messing around. It's nothing serious so stop making it seem like we're dating. You're with Alex."
"How many damn times do I have to say this? I. want. you. But you think you're being a good friend by doing this behind her back. Ever stop to think how I feel?" he says angrily.
"Zac, I don't want to fight. I have to get to class."
"Yeah whatever Ali. Always a tease. I'm not your little toy." he says as he walks off leaving me alone feeling guilty.
***
I didn't talk to Zac for the rest of the day. What he said really hurt me. It's been a long day. First, Jay and then Zac. Ugh boys are so difficult sometimes.
I unlock my door and walk in, only to walk in on Zac making out with Alex. Ouch. That was a hard slap to the face. I guess I need that to realize that he is not mine.
They break away from each other and Alex giggles out of embarrassment.
"Ali! Sorry, I didn't realize you were coming here. " she says with a giggle.
"Well this IS my room. Where else would I go?" I say irritated.
Alex realizes this and her eyes soften. "You're right. I'm sorry. Zac was just leaving anyways."
"Yeah clearly. It's okay carry on with whatever you were doing. I was just leaving anyways." I say feeling bad for snapping at my friend.
"Technically you just came so you weren't just leaving were you?" I heard a smart ass comment come from the one person who was really on my hit list today.
I simply glare at Zac and he realizes why I'm angry. But this is what he wants. He wants me to get jealous. Well it worked. But two can play this game.
I walk out of the room and before I can stop myself I'm knocking on Jay's door.
He opens it, revealing his sleepy state as he stares at me with confusion.
"So are you still up for Friday night or what?"
