Chapter 8

MALCOM's POV

I still remember when she would go to shore and stare at the sunset. Her beautiful long brown hair would dance with the wind. Her clear crystal green eyes would shine with so much love and hope. Triton was checking on Melody who for some odd reason has a trait of river sickness. It has happened in the past.

Female mermaids will crave the cold so the pain will subside but none is around. But if able to find it in the ocean the baby is healthy and like the rest. If born in the river the baby will adapt to its surroundings and will search for that cold and sweet water. I am a fresh and salt water. Just like Bruce. He can have a sharks temper but am worse. I might have those giant heels tempers. Know thats a nasty sight.

Triton is the Emperor of the Seven Seas but we are the lords of each sea. He left in command a few of his most trusted men. Giving each the immortality to rule the lands. We are born immortal but there are times where we are weak. Like contamination or wounds. We live forever but we get hurt like a human. Its a blessing and a curse.

I am Lord of the Sharks. Bruce is Lord of the Dolphins. Coral is Lord of the whales. Kelp is Lord of the Heels. Temperamental things. Raf is Lord of the Sea Mamals. Animals that can go to land and back to the ocean is weird how a Sea Lion swims in the water infested of Sharks or Orcas. Even if it is not their fault their food is under the sea. Starrite is Lord of the Birds. Flyers or none fliers meaning penguins he is lord of those cute fuzzy animals. Shice is Lord of the Gelly Fish.

Thats all of us and we are only three who can check the rivers and lakes. We had a commander for Rivers and Lakes but he died out by his own fish. Piranhas. I am able to get them into place. Those fish can never be tamed. I was close to the beach where I found a rivers entrance where Moisha hangs out. I decided to surfice as I saw the sunset.

I get to land and I let my tail vanish and I have my human feet.

"If merfolk would know that there is a new sickness and is spreading to those who can pass tbrough river and ocean waters..." I mumbled out

"Malcom?" I felt surprised

I looked back to see Moisha wearing a dress. She looks so human. I knew she had this ability she must have found out on a full moon. Deep down am sad but seeing how she looks like a human is actually pretty cute.

"Oh my Malcom what in coral reef are you doing?" she says surprised

I stand easily and say "I wanted to see you... Check on you... I-I couldn't find you in your room..."

I blush remembering how I entered her room to check if she was ok. She had the cutest things. I can't believe merfolk don't like this sweet innocent girl.

She touched my cheek "Oh Malcom... I am ok just... Weeell... Having trouble but am ok..."

I laughed a little and say "Is ok don't worry... It happened to me I lasted a whole week to figure out what happened..."

She looks at me confused and shocked "T-This happened to you... I-I thought i-it was only me..."

"Oh no honey is only me, you and Bruce... Us being able to adjust quickly to temperature and ecosistem that when in land we become human..."  I explained to her

Her confused face softened "So... Why you here? You rare come near the river..."

I sighed out and gave my back to her saying "I-I need to go back Triton must be worried I will announce the first transformation..."

"First transformation?" she asked confused

"Yes... The supposed River Sickness you had was just a thing of a struggle with you manifesting the ability of Ecosistem Temperature... Is a ancient ability only three have... Triton new about your ability but was afraid that a merfolk would try and kill you or take the ability from you" I explained softly to her as I touched her face

"A-Alright... I-I think I un-understood" she says her voice sounds so melodic

I just hope we get married and then I can take care so far away from the sea. I can show her places but I must remain back. I can't ruin the small trust she has given me. All I have to do know is give my information to Triton at least he will be happy to know she is safe. I just have to find her a day before the week ends.

Thats how long her body can last in her first transformation. Bruce and I never met humans but we also stayed close to the beach. Hidden from human sight for a whole week until the night came and we craved water.

Being close we were able to wooble back to the ocean after half an hour like that the burning sensation we felt when our tails re-appeared and an ability to comunicate with certain animals was amazing. I am able to speak to sharks and Bruce with Dolphins. I sighed out as I stared at her new human eyes. Brown as the shiny rocks in the river banks shinning with curiosity and hope.

"I will be back... You got five days to go... Before night falls come back here to this beach... Do you understand?" I told her calmly

She looks around but bites her bottom lip and nods in approval. I knew she is afraid but I don't want her getting killed and experimented on. I tried my best not to hold her tight to my chest and kiss her lips but I walked back to the ocean. I looked back to her as some humans looked my way. I did my best not to just return and snatch her. I walked deeper and deeper until I just let my body slowly sink.

I let my legs change into my shark tail and I go deeper into the ocean. I didn't even resurfice to look at her. I know well she will be ok and safe. She is smart. I know she will return safe and sound and in my arms. I want her safe. I want to protect her. Give her what she needs.

I love her so much.
