Swimming Together

Chapter 10

I started to open my eyes something bright shone in my face. Heat was all I felt in my face so I had to try and pry my eyes open. I covered my eyes from the bright light. After a few blinks I noticed we were still close to the beach. I sat up and everyone was still here. David was fast asleep almost close to me.

Still had his distance. My head is pounding so hard. Wait if we're close to the beach means the river bank is right there. I quickly stand up and followed the rocky path. Its been a while since the last time I was in the water.

I walked for a while looked back lots of times. Nobody. Silent. That's what I love. I sighed out as this area was really windy but I made it. I looked around again before removing the dress and the shoes Dave had given me. I dove in I opened my eyes and I held my breath. Through human eyes this is totally blurry but I can recognize a few things at least. Dolphins approached me and I smiled. I touched them as the pocked my tummy. I took hold of its fin as it started swimming. I felt happy and it surficed I took a few breaths before she went down again.

I noticed a hole and she swam in. The whole was big enough for both of us but when passed through my throat started to ache. I released the bit of air and it was starting to hurt on my chest. But she surficed I felt utterly confused but noticed that we were somewhere else. I think we passed a type of portal because this place looks to good to be true. There circular rings with water like cascading. One under the other except with weird circular formations or oval. The dolphin swam to the middle of one and I quickly stood up. Its a bit shallow. It reaches my waist so I didn't mind.

This place is amazing but am still confused to when and how did this happen? Was that little whole have been always a portal to this type of place? Its not magical but I think it is secret. I went and swam with the dolphin as the rest of the dolphins showed up. I smiled widely maybe its a paradise for dolphins I just stayed having fun. Farther down the dolphins never went its bigger. Deeper. Scarier. Is something there sleeping?

Maybe its a worpool. It doesn't show the water going doing because of this much water pods. But when in there the feeling of something tugging your feet is there. So I should stay here.

"Wow... This is amazing" the dolphins swam of hiding under water

I panicked and turned around one of David's friends was here. Did he follow me? How did he pass the portal? This place looks like a cave at the beginning of the whole but sun light is shinning in here. How?

"Since when did you know this place?" he asked me as he walks my way the water by his waist as he dips down lower

"Si-Since know" I tell him confused as I swam a bit backwards

"Dave sure knows how to pick his friends... Never expected you to find this place" he tells me amazed as he looks around

"You know of this place?" I asked curiously humans would never know of this place how does he knows about it?

"My mother told me stories of this place..." he smiles as he looks up to the walls around this place "The Mermaids Lullaby..."

"Mermaids?" I asked so his mom told him about us

Maybe just maybe he can tell me what is this place "Yeah... Mother told me that mermaids and well mermen use to swim here... The mermaids sang in here without fearing of humans barging in..."

I swam to him curiously but I asked "What happened?"

He looks down sad as his glaze looks pained. My heart aching but my mind raging war. Something happened in the past that we don't know about. Something big. He stopped moving as he sighs out.

"A human was able to come here..." was his responce "One of the mermaids wanted to be friends with him... The rest were afraid but... He had swam away... Arguments arose in this cavern... But that same moment... The human had come back... But not alone..."

I wanted to cry. Cry so badly. There has to be a written history of this. Dad maybe knows. Maybe he doesn't speak of it because of the merfolk. For their safety. Todd was knocked out I felt surprised but when I looked behind him it was Malcom. I smiled widely at him but I slapped his shoulder.

"Hey..." he says jokingly

"You shouldn't had hit him so hard..." I tell him as a joke as well

"I know... Luckily the dolphins will swim him out of here and I will push him to shore..." he tells me as he smirks at me

"Fine... Lets go..." I tell him as I swam to him

"I can't believe they brought you here..." he comments with a smile

"Wait... You know of this place too?" I asked amazed Malcom is older than me by three years how come he knows of this place

"Mother told me stories... Lullaby Cove... It was beautiful decades ago... This place had diamonds and pearls that not even your dad could ever amount to have..." he tells me with a chuckle

Todd's body was taken out of the cave first and then it was me. Malcom feels so strong but I couldn't stop my mind. To wonder what did happen in there. So there isn't a portal or anything. Is just a whole leading to an underground cave that has a few wholes here and there. I think one of our kind used a type of spell to mimik a sun and sky. Its so beautiful though. I actually didn't expect to be brought to a place like that.

We were finally out of the cave and I took a breath. I am getting use to this human form but I quickly swim to Todd. Quickly pushing him out of the river. Malcom had to help me he was behind me his bare chest pressing against my bare back. Well only one piece of clothing remained. I blushed we heard more steps and I felt Malcoms lips on my cheek as he went underwater. I looked to find the group of David's friends with David in front of them. A worried expression ran across their faces when they saw me push Todd more.

"What happened?" David asked worriedly
