It was another week that has passed after Melanie had been with Anthony, and for the most part she had managed to avoid Levi and Victoria about the questions, as she was sure they were wondering. Luckily she had been called to work a lot lately, and it kept her busy most of the days. She had been purposefully avoiding Anthony after what had happened. Since she was being called into work, it was easy to do. She could tell him she had gotten busy, and it would've been somewhat the truth. Melanie knew that they were going to have to cross paths again at some point. That she was also going to have to explain to him everything. But she needed some space again to let her mind register everything that was going on.
The house seemed rather quiet without Melanie there, Victoria was outside on the porch, doing some reading and glancing around the scenery now and then. She looked up as she heard the sound of the door open, spotting Levi stepping out to join her on the porch. She gave a small smile setting down the book. "Hey.." She curled up next to him as she felt his arm around her shoulder. He glanced down at her giving a smile in return. "Hey.. I hope I wasn't interrupting anything." He grinned watching as she had set her book down. She shook her head. "Of course not. The book will always be there for later. How are things going?" She asked. "I suppose they're going alright. There's a case that Anthony and I have been focusing on. We are going to have to go out on a stakeout tonight.."
Victoria pulled her head up as she had laid her head on his shoulder, slightly glancing up at him with a worried expression. "Stakeout?" She hated it when she heard him say that he had to go out on the field. She never knew if things were going right.. Or wrong.. But at least one good thing, he had Anthony, who was quite good at his job. Levi looked at her. "Don't worry.. I will be fine." He smiled seeing her worried expression. She gave a smile back in return. "I know you will." She said though she still couldn't help but worry. "When are you going to have to leave?" Levi looked at the time on his watch. "I will have to be ready by five. Anthony will be picking me up." Victoria nodded.
"Is there anything I'm going to help need getting ready or get something for dinner?" Levi shook his head. "You don't need to worry about anything. I have it all covered. You can go ahead and relax." He smiled. Victoria smiled in return glancing at him. "I wouldn't mind getting something ready." "My uniform is already laid out and I just plan on bringing a sandwich. It isn't anything too major." She let her head rest back on his shoulder. Watching the scene around them. For now it was fairly quiet in their neighborhood, and for her the weather was a perfect summer day, considering it was now August.
After Victoria seemed to be quiet for awhile, Levi looked down noticing that she had fallen asleep. He leaned forward giving her a kiss on her forehead before wrapping his arms around her to lift her up into his arms, then headed into the bedroom laying her on the bed and pulling the covers over her.
When Victoria woke up she looked around realizing that Levi had brought her into the bedroom. She looked over at the time noticing it was four thirty. She knew she should get up to go spend the last half hour with Levi before he left, but she still felt tired for some reason and didn't want to make any moves at the moment to get up. Not realizing she had fallen back to sleep until she heard the sound of the door from outside. Anthony must be here to pick up Levi.
She slowly crawled out of bed and exited out of the room to find him just making his way to leave out the door. "Good evening." He grinned glancing over at her as he heard the bedroom door shut. Victoria bit her lip. "I hadn't meant to sleep in that long." Levi shook his head. "Don't worry, as I said I have everything ready. You've been busy working lately, so it looked like you needed the rest." He smiled.
Levi wrapped his arms around Victoria as she approached closer to him. "I will see you later." He leaned forward giving her a kiss. She stood on her tiptoes to give him a kiss in return. "You better." She smirked saying her usual piece whenever she knew he was going out on the field. He smiled giving her another quick kiss on the forehead. "I love you."
Victoria smiled back in return. "I love you too." She watched as Levi exited the house then looked over at the time letting out a sigh. Melanie had the night shift at work so she wouldn't be home from the hospital till later. Victoria was alone, and would be for a few hours until Levi got home.
