Birthday Surprise

Alexander POV

Today's the day my boy turns 3.  Walking into the discovery zone, I scanned the area.  There were kids everywhere, on the walls, the floor, the ceiling?  It's like a war zone here.

"Mommy, is daddy coming?"  I turned my head to that sound of the voice I missed so much.

There he was, with Ally, Charlie and who the hell is he.  Another guy whose hand is on her shoulder, my baby girls shoulder.  Vile rose through my throat.  I was seeing red.  Calming my self I walked to my birthday boy with a gift wrapped present in my arm.  "Daddy."  Xan came running to me.

Ally had a look of shock in her face.  Charlie was being Charlie and the new guy had the smug look on his face like he knew something I didn't.

"Hey son."

"Hi daddy, is that for me?"  The look in his eyes melts my heart.  I bent to his level, "Happy birthday."  I handed him the gift.

"Mommy look what daddy got me?"

"I see that."  She smiled at Xan.

"Can I open it?"

"Maybe later okay hon."

"Okay Mommy."  Allison slowly walked up to me, "What are you doing here?"

"Can we talk?"  The new guy looked at me, I could tell he didn't like me being too close with her.  I don't give a crap.

Allison nodded and turned to Charlie, "Could you look after Xan for a while?"

"Sure."

We sat outside where it was just me and her, "Baby girl..."

"Don't call me that, you lost that right."

"I can explain please."

Raising her arm, she slapped me, "How could you?"

I knew she was going to do that, "Please Ally..."

"No!  This is not what married life's about.  You don't just have sex with other people.  We made a vow did we not?"  Her voice was cracking.

"Please let me explain." 

"There is nothing for you to explain."

"Please just listen."  I begged.

"Let me sum it down for you, you had sex, now your having a baby.  Did I miss anything else?"

I guess there is no more room for explanation now is there.  "I love you."

Ally stared at me, "Love, Ha! Don't give me that bull shit.  Maybe you should redefine what love is."

"Ally..." My tears were threatening to come out but I held them in.

"We could make this work, we could..."

"I do not want me and Xan to come second place in your life."

"What no, you and Xan will always be first."

"Really," she challenged, "What happens when your new baby needs you and your son at the same time, who would you choose.  I don't want to be the bad guy here but I don't want Xan to feel he has to compete with his fathers love."

"Never, I will love him forever more just like his beautiful mother."

I saw the tears in her eyes, "I don't want to share you with another woman."

"Serena and I aren't together."

"She is the mother of your child or did you forget that.  Even if you and her aren't together there will be always something more like someone there."
