"Do you care to explain what happened?" asked Nurse Quincy in her cold, steely voice.
"Ms Quincy, she just collapsed in front of me," I replied, leaving out the part where Gesyl was muttering some weird mumbo jumbo crap before.
Ms Quincy grunted at me before turning her attention to Gesyl, who was laying on the nurse's bed beside the window.
After Gesyl had passed out in the restroom, I was yelling for what seemed like forever while trying to carry her out, until someone came busting in.
It was Coach Becky, our gym teacher and when she saw Gesyl, she immediately took her into her stocky arms, and carried her out of the restroom. She started heading towards the nurse's office, Gesyl in tow and me following quickly behind.
"What happened to her?" Coach Becky had asked me.
"I-I don't know," I stammered, because I genuinely did not know. "One second she was standing, the next thing she was lying on the ground."
We reached the nurse's office and Coach Becky immediately called for Ms Quincy. The frowning nurse came at once and seeing Gesyl, quickly shifted all her attention to helping the poor girl to one of the beds.
Once Gesyl was laying down on the bed, Ms Quincy ordered Coach Becky to get water for the poor girl. And that's when Ms Quincy had asked me what had happened.
Before Ms Quincy could begin to torture more information out of me, we were interrupted by a groan. We turned our attention to Gesyl, who was beginning to stir awake. Her eyes fluttered open, and at the sight of me and the school nurse, she groaned as if in agony.
"Miss Ripley, how do you feel?" asked Ms Quincy with a hint of sincere concern in her voice, rushing over to put a hand to the raven-haired girl's forehead.
"I'm fine," grumbled Gesyl, lightly tapping Ms Quincy's hand away, which I thought was a very bold move.
Ms Quincy gave Gesyl a knowing look and said in a rather soft and knowing voice, "You haven't been taking your meds."
That was so strange. Never in all the years I had been here, had I seen Ms Quincy act so sympathetic and kind. It was so out of character for her to do so. And I didn't know whether to be terrified or glad.
Coach Becky then arrived with a cup of water and handed it to Gesyl whilst asking the girl if she was alright.
"I said I'm fine," growled Gesyl for the gazillionth time.
Sheesh. I hope she doesn't start hissing at us, I thought to myself.
Ms Quincy walked towards her desk and picked up the telephone propped on the corner. "As you know, Ms Ripley, I'm going to have to call your parents."
Gesyl groaned once more and took the cup of water Mrs. Becky forced into her hands. Gesyl gulped down the water and placed the cup down on the nearby stand. Then she glanced up and glared at me. "Why the hell are you here, Jenkins?"
"Uhh, you passed out in front of me in the bathroom, Gesyl," I explained. "You mean, you don't remember anything?"
Her expression shifted to a troubled one for a split second before she quickly went back to her gloomy look.
Ms Quincy then returned to Gesyl's bedside. "Your mother is on her way with your meds. You really should be taking them, Gesyl."
"So, she's gonna be alright?" asked Coach Becky with genuine concern.
