Two hours had passed, and I heard footsteps from behind the iron door. It was Ava, an arctic wolf with luxurious snow white fur. She was the one who would always deliver meals to my door. Sometimes, she would talk to me for a few minutes so I wouldn't feel too lonely. I could see her cheeks turn a light shade of pink through her white fur whenever she was in the my quarantine. She was the only one that I felt I could trust, besides officers Nick and Judy.

The sound of the door opening snapped me out of my thoughts. There stood Ava, an iron tray of fruits in her hands.

"Good morning, Joshua," Ava greeted.

"Good morning, Master A- I, mean, Ava," I corrected myself, blushing in embarrassment. I had a habit of calling her "Master" Ava, because of a game I played back home, called "Kingdom Hearts: Unchained X [Union Cross]".

Ava giggled at my mistake. She already knew about the game I played.

"Here's your breakfast," She said, handing me the tray.

"Hey, Ava?" Ava turned her head toward me.

"Hm?"

"Would you mind... sending Nick and Judy?" I requested. "I want to talk to them." She nodded with a smile.

"Of, course," Ava started, "I'll give the ZPD a call right now." And with that, we said our goodbyes as she walked out the door.

I decided to take a nap before I would be interrogated by a few scientists at ten o'clock. However, I wasn't sure if I wanted to answer all of them.

I was sound asleep, dreaming about my home, my friends, and how much I missed them.

"Subject 107449!"

"HOLY SHI-" I awoke with a start, falling off the bed and landing on the cold floor. "That didn't hurt," I said, giving a thumbs up to whoever woke me up. It turned out to be a grizzly bear in a lab coat.

Three scientists, including the grizzly bear, entered the room with clipboards. They asked many questions, which I didn't answer. They eventually gave up. But before they could exit, I stood up and asked a question of my own.

"When can I leave?"

The mammals exchanged glances with each other, then said, "You must stay here for research purposes."

I froze and my eyes widened. "I can't leave...? B-but what about my home?? My friends??" They ignored my statements and left the room, leaving me all alone... with no one to care about me...

I was laying on my bed, staring at the ceiling while many things rushed through my mind.

"Josh?" Ava called from the doorway. "It turns out that Nick and Judy can't make it. They're on a-"

"It's fine," I interrupted her. "I need some time alone, anyway."

Ava opened her maw to speak, but shut it again and walked out.

I couldn't go back home. I couldn't see my friend. I'd never be able to go outside again.
