Later that night, Oswald was helping Nicey make homemade pizza . He figured, after she'd seemed so down from her 'attack' earlier, this would help her feel better.

Mickey and Goofy had gone out to talk to the manager of their entire circus, and Donald was out with Daisy. Meaning the two had the house to themselves.

As Nicey put the food in the oven,  Oswald looked at Nicey, sighing a little out of satisfaction at her smile.

"Alright, that should be done in time for dinner."

"Great! Should we make dessert to?  Just to surprise the guys? "

Oswald tilted his head a little, thinking. Then he nodded, a grin on his face.

"Sure, that would be fun!"

"Yes! Alright, hmmm. Now what to make. "

Nicey pulled out her phone and began scrolling through Google, searching for a good desert that would go with the pizza.

"Hm, what about a PB&J cheesecake?"

"That's a bit odd...its perfect. "

Oswald giggled a little as Nicey grabbed the mixing bowl and other supplies. Then she looked at the recipe, and started searching the cabinets for the ingredients.

"Aw man, there's no sugar."

Oswald walked over the check, making sure times check the higher places she couldn't reach.

"Huh I guess you're right... Welp, time to put you in the mixing bowl! "

Oswald picked up Nicey and set her down on the counter, next to the mixing bowl. Nicely jumped off the counter and punched him in the arm, both of them giggling.

"Whatever you, I'll just go buy some, I'll be right back."

Oswald gave a small nod as he giggled a little more. Nicely put on her jacket, grabbed her purse and headed for the door. As she opened it, she saw Dovil with her arm raised, ready to knock. They stared at each other for a moment before Dovil knocked the wind out of Nice with a hug.

"Nicey!"

Oswald ran over to them, overhearing them. Nicey hugged Dovil and got her to calm down a little.

"Calm down, Dovil. What's the matter with you?"

"You haven't been home in 2 weeks! You didn't tell anyone where you were, we all thought you were in some kind of trouble!"

Instantly Nicey winced with guilt. It's true she hadn't gone back to her apartment in a while, and she'd forgotten to tell Dovil where she'd gone.
Seeing as they were roommates, it wasn't a suppose Dovil was worried.

"Aw jeez, Dovil, I'm Sorry. I guess it just kind of slipped my mind. I promise not to do it again. "

Dovil stood back and wiped her tears, before glancing over at Oswald confused and concerned face. Her face became one of question, but she didn't say anything.

"Oh, I almost forgot. "

She reached into her purse and pulled out a picture of Nicey and Dovil, from back in middle school. They were childhood friends, but Dovil moved on high school and the two lost contact. They were reunited on college, and they hadn't left each other since. Nicey smiled at the photo, hugging it as she uttered a quick thank you. Nicey nodded in response and checked the time on her phone.

"Well, I'd better be going. I'm just glad to know your safe. "

As Dovil turned to leave, Nicey put her hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, I was just heading out to the store, maybe you and I could catch up, andnI could give you a ride back to the apartment afterward? "

Devils eyes visibly lit up and she smiled at Nicey, then glanced at Oswald again.

"Well that depends on how protective your boyfriend is."

Oswald stood a little straighter, blushing lightly, not expecting Dovil to say anything. Nicey's face prickled with heat from the blush, freezing in place from embarrassment.

"H-he's not my boyfriend, Dovil!"

Oswald turned his head away from them, rubbing the goosebumps on his neck.

"Yet" He muttered.

Dovil giggled as Nicey blushed a little more, glaring daggers at Oswald. She pushed Dovil out the door, avoiding any further embarrassing chat.

A few hours later, Oswald walked out of bathroom after readying himself for bed. As he reached his bedroom door, he hear the unmistakable sound of sobs emitting from the room. As he opened it, he saw Nicey curled up in the corner, hugging her knees against her chest.

"N-Nicey?"

She looked up, only to shrink back more, her eyes glazed with horror. Despite her reaction, Oswald walked up to her until he was only inches away from her. Her clothes and face we're stained with wet and dry ink, a puddle of it forming around her.

"Nicey-"

He tried to comfort her, trying to get a little closer. Instead, Nicey shrank back a little more and hissed a little under her breath, like an agitated cat.

"Don't bother... I know the ink is disgusting, I'll clean all of it up afterward."

She sounded so calm, but Oswald could read behind it. She was in pain, and she was scared. He winced a little as he heard a voice that was once exactly like his own. He picked her up and layed her down in bed, then held her close.

"I know it hurts Nicey, it's okay to let that show. You don't need to cover up, I understand how you feel... "

Nicey didn't react, just stayed where she was, refusing to give into his affection.

"You're not disgusting. The ink is something you can't control. It doesn't effect my opinion of you. You're beautiful, smart, and kind. And my view of that is never going to change."

Nicey shifted a little, before wrapping her arms around him in a tight hug as she allowed tears to stream down her face.

Suddenly, he remembered Ortensia. She had concealed the ink illness from him when they'd first met, but he eventually caught her. With the memory in his head, he held Nicey closer, knowing that she was his chance to make up for things left unsaid.

Oswald held her in his arms, getting a flashback of what had happened way back then.

As she cried into his arms, he only held her closer. Then she said the words, that made his eyes widen, mimicking his memories.

"O-Ozzy, help... It h-hurts to much"

He let the memory of his past wife flash through his head quickly, allowing tears to drop from his eyes quietly.

"I know, sweety. It's okay, just please, when it's all over, don't let it take away your genuine smile."

Nicey hid her face in his chest as she felt the ink wear off, some of it quickly drying against her face. Exhaustion enveloped her, and she felt herself loose consciousness as she fell asleep in the warmth if her true loves arms.

(Tried to get this out sooner, but I kept getting sidetracked, sorry!)
