Honey

Every time I look at you...
In your eyes, I see myself.
Holding wilted flowers in my chest.
They grow and grow,
As I suffocate.
I could say all the memories I kept with you were beautiful.
But that would be a sweet lie.
Each time you opened your mouth
A few wasps came out.
Instead of sweet honey and bumble bees.
You aim them my way, and let them swarm around me.
They sting me until I can no longer breathe.

I never left. Your honey, sickly sweet and sticky, trapped me by your deadly side.
And every time I thought of a way to escape you'd wrap your big hands around my heart and keep it for keeps sake.
Just like my scars.. You're unforgettable. No matter how many drinks slide down my throat.
