Left to my thoughts...
*at about 1 in the afternoon*
Oliver: " soo.....um were here I guess this is goodbye."
Me: " huh?....yeah I guess so."
Oliver now squeezing me in his arms and not wanting to let go.
Me: "thanks" still holding on.
Oliver: " for?"
Me: " you know, walking me home and being there for me, and well this hug, I really needed it."
Oliver: "just remember that I'll always be here for you."
I nodded and turned to open the door to my house. I looked around but saw no one.
I called, " mother?! I'm home! "
Mother: " and where exactly were you last night?"
Her tone as though she couldn't possibly care less about my whereabouts, but still asking because 'I' was her ticket to fortune.
I bluntly replied knowing her true intentions, " and to what importance is it to you, mother?"
Mother: " I am your mother, I love you with all my heart."
Me: "what heart? If you had a heart you wouldn't be marrying me off to some man I've never even layed eyes on."
Mother: "Darling, I'm doing this for us." her voice calm, after noticing the sudden rage in my eyes.
Me: " you know damn well that you only care about yourself and that I'm your ticket out of this hell hole you call a home."
She stood, without a word, trying to process what I had just said, and when the silence became overbearing I stormed off and just left her there.
* me talking out loud*
What is wrong with her. Ughh!
I mean there's bad and then there's my mother. I mean, I knew that she had an arranged marriage at age fifteen, hated it, my father died and then she had me. I mean if she knows the pain of all that, and had gone through soo much. Why would she want to do it to me.(All the while I was walking through the forest that lay after the clearing behind the cottage)
*still talking out loud*
I wish there was a way to escape this arrangement. I hate having to live like this. And Gabe, I want to enjoy my life with him. I still haven't figured out though what had upset him.
I had known these woods all my life, yet I have never seen this.
It was an old grandfather tree, with some sort of door in the centre. I examined it closely and noticed a handle of some sort.
I tugged on it but it didn't give way, I tried again with more force, this time succeeding. The inside was much larger than the external part of the tree, or so it appeared. I stepped into the little lair, looking around to see if anyone was there.
There was a little old wooden desk in one corner, in the other, had a shelf with jars and potion bottles, a few of the herbs I did identify was mistletoe, vervain, wolfsbane, yew and dried poison ivy. There were also a variety of liquids I couldn't identify.
In the centre of the lair had a black cauldron supported by three rocks.Just as I was about to open the diary that lay on the table I heard the door opening so I........
