We arrive at the camp and we all get out of the car but Joel, who drives it through the open gates and parks it up on the side. I follow behind Finn as we head into the abandoned Military quarantine zone.
"What happened here?" I ask and Jerry looks round.
"I was here, I was a solider, Fireflies took the place down, I wanted to join them, I failed the test- they told me to run, I did, they tried to kill me, they failed..." He says and I blink at him.
"Wow." I mutter and Finn laughs.
"So you were in Boston? Whats it like up there?" He asks, walking beside me.
"Its dirty and dark...but it has one of these, but its still running, it has a boarding school which I attended...it had a cool mall too...Me and my best friend would go..." I say, slowing down and I sigh as Riley's face flashes in my mind.
"Oh cool...What about you Joel?" Finn asks, looking at him as he walks on my other side.
"I was a smuggler, thats how Ellie came about...Me and Tess, smugglers, smuggling a Firefly girl..." He says and Finn nods.
"And Tess was your...girlfirend?" Finn asks and I look at Joel.
"You could call her that I guess" He says and Jerry leads us into the building, we're met by the other 16 people who are all sat round a make shift fire and two women are handing out old tins, filled with fresh soup.
"Daddy!" Says a young girl, running into Jerrys arms.
"I smile as Jerry places her down and Jackie leads us to the fire, sitting down and we sit down with them. I look round.
"Welcome" Says one of the women handing out soup.
"Thanks" I say and Joel nods at her as she smiles.
"Who are these?" someone calls out from the side of the room and I look round and see a tall man with a brown leather coat on, down to his thighs.
"This is Joel and Ellie" Says Jerry, his daughter hugging Jackie.
"They're survivors and they're staying the night before returning to their home" Jerry says and I nod as everyone looks round at us.
"Hey" I say and everyone groans or says 'fuck off'.
I roll my eyes and look at Joel.
"Maybe we should move away..." I suggest and Joel nods, moving over to the side of the room.
"Wheres Olly?" Jerry's daughter asks him. I sigh as Jackie, Jerry, their daughter, Harry and Finn all sit down with us. I push my back against the wall, as does Joel. I cross my legs and then watch.
"This is Ella" Says Jackie and Jerry smiles at her.
"We lost him El" Jerry says and I sigh, looking at the floor.
"Hungry?" Harry offers me and Joel.
"I'm fine thanks, Ellie, get something in you" Joel says and I shake my head.
"I'm fine" I tell him and Finn.
"Okay" Harry says and I sigh, pulling off my jacket and lying it out as a pillow. I put my head on it and Joel sighs.
"Get some sleep now, its about 11pm" Joel says as he turns away from me.
"Night" I mumble and I shut my eyes.
