After we left Reiji's room, Ayato and myself walked down the hallway in silence. The whole time, I have been cuddling Alex's limp body into my arms and Ayato has been staring at me. When we went down the stair case and into the main living room, Ayato stopped me.
"Wait here." Ayato said in a soft voice and left into the kitchen. As expected, it didn't take long for Ayato to come back out, but what I didn't expect was for him to bring out a small salad plate. He took out the black bottle from his pocket and poured a good amount on plate.
"Here."
It took me almost a minute to break out of my trance and realize that I have been staring at him. I quickly thank him and take the plate and get Alex into a suitable position where he can drink it. I give him a light shake and he opens his eyes and laps up the liquid. Alex basically licked the whole thing dry and the next few minutes were filled with silence.

"Well? Did it do the trick?"

I look back up at Ayato and see the smile that I never thought he would give me. I smile down looking at Alex and see that the antidote has taken in effect. Alex is now at his normal skin color and has started to curl around my neck with his head over my shoulder.
"Yeah.....it did. Thanks."
Ayato gives off a nod and turns to walk away but before he even takes a step, I grab his sleeve out of instinct.
"Wait!"
Ayato is a little surprised and turns around and gives me a questioning look.
"Why'd you do it?"
"Hm? What are you talking about?"
"Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. Why did you save me? Why did you save Alex?" Ayato doesn't look me in the eyes and just stares off to the side. Right when I was about to ask him again he replies.
"I... I only did it because I knew your were going to be complaining to the lot of us if you lost your little worm so...."
I smirk and raise an eyebrow.
"Uh huh, yeah sure." Ayato faces me blushes a deeper shade of red.
"H-Honest!!"
"Wow Ayato stuttering? Now that's something you don't see everyday." I laughed and covered my mouth to try and quiet myself. Ayato puffs out his cheeks a little then goes back to his gentle smile.
