The seas were abuzz with excitement. After all, there was a concert hosted by the Queen of all oceans herself! And many rumors even said her seven sons would be performing in it too! The merpeople gathered in the grand concert hall, chatting eagerly among themselves as they waited for the show to finally. Loud horns interrupted the noise, as the nearby guards began to hush the merpeople. A small seahorse, with a ruff tied securely around his neck. He gave a small cough, as a spotlight from seemingly nowhere focused in on him.

"Attention! May I present the one and only, ruler of all the oceans!" The seahorse declared. "Queen Irene!" A grand fanfare erupted from the orchestra as the queen was brought out on a shell repurposed to become a chariot. She raised her trident, creating a small spark in the air. "And, the grand composer. The honorable, incredible....Valentina!" Another shell, also repurposed to be a chariot, followed Queen Irene's own chariot. This one held a small crab, waving to the rather silent crowd. No fanfare followed her introduction, but one of the younger fish in the orchestra had brought along a kazoo, which they happily tooted on before they were told to hush by the older musicians.

Valentina was not only the grand composer for the kingdom, she was also the Queen's most trusted advisor. This had earned the normally irritable and uptight crab a certain amount of respect from the other sea creatures and the merpeople as well. Valentina suddenly urged the fish bringing her chariot forwards slightly, so they had caught up with the queen, who was practically beaming at this point.

"I'm rather excited for this concert in particular, Valentina." Queen Irene admitted, looking down at the crab. "To think my seven sons, all performing together on this day....And to hear the improvement my little Aaron has made."

"Of course, your highness!" Valentina said, bowing as much as she could in her shell. "He has the most wonderful singing voice, and he has improved wonderfully during our rehersals!" Irene gave a nod, as the two both began to go seperate ways. As soon as the conductor was out of range of the old queen, Valentina just gave a slight sigh. "If only he would actually show up to them once in a while...."

Both chariots landed, although Queen Irene had been given a higher perch to watch from while Valentina landed right at the head of the orchestra. She lightly stepped out, pulling out a impossibly large score book. She set it on the stand, holding up her baton. The orchestra held up their instruments in response, rather anxiously waiting for Valentina's downbeat.

And so, the concert began.

We are the sons of Irene!
Great mother who loves us and named us well
Alex, Andre, Acel, Adrien, Axel, Antony
And then there is the youngest in his musical debut
Our seventh little brother, we're presenting him to you
To sing a song Valentina wrote, his voice rings like a bell
It's our brother, Aaro--

The shell supposed to hold the young merman opened, revealing nothing but empty air. The six other merbrothers, clearly confused by this turn of events, turned to each other while muttering under their breaths, before each glancing over to their mother. Valentina couldn't help but turn as well, shaking in her shell violently.

"AARON!!!" Irene yelled, holding up her trident as she rose, angrily.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Aaron!" The young, red-headed merman grabbed onto an old, rotting piece of wood, looking ahead in wonder. "Aaron, can you please stop swimming off so suddenly? I don't have big fins like you!" A small yellow and blue-striped fish swam up to his side as fast as she could, panting slightly.
"Freckles, you really need to swim faster. I don't swim THAT fast!" The merman, Aaron, said in a teasing tone. "Besides, we're here! Isn't it amazing?" Before Freckles could say anything, Aaron had already begun swimming off into the distance. She hesitated, but eventually followed.
It turns out the two had been heading for a sunken pirate ship, one that had been brought down by a storm many years ago. However, no sane mermaid nor merman would dare venture this close to a sunken human ship. But, Aaron had a reason for going.
He slipped into one of the open holes, while Freckles hesitated slightly at the entrance. But Aaron had shouted for her to come in, something she couldn't exactly ignore too easily. So, the little fish squeezed her way into the pothole, never noticing a large, looming shadow that passed over them.
Aaron was in what looked like maybe the captain's study? Or at least the room that might've once belonged to someone important. He was right next to a table, pushing aside old pieces of rubble before excitedly holding up something. This thing was silver, with three pointed prongs on one end and a slender handle on the other. It almost looked like his mother's trident if you looked carefully enough.
"I don't think I have this in my collection....Isn't it just wonderful, Freckles?" Aaron asked, turning the strange human object over in his hands. "I wonder....do you think Henrietta knows what this is?"
"I-I-I dunno.....p-probably...." Freckles stammered. She was clearly terrified of....just the entire ship. It didn't help a heavy pit of dread sat right at the bottom of her stomach, as if she knew something bad was just about to happen. "A-Aaron, listen.....c-c-can we just get out of here now, p-pretty please?" Aaron just waved it aside, carefully stowing away the object in his bag before swimming off to check the rest of the room.
"Freckles, stop being such a guppy." He teased. "There's nothing to be scared of in here! It's just your imagination!" He swam up to the top of a shelf, pulling a strange bulbous object. It had what looked like a handle, or maybe a spout, on one end. On the other, it ballooned out just like some of the strange birds he had seen on the surface, although this...thing had a hole on top. He picked it up, squinting while twisting and turning his hand. "What could this be?"
"A-A-AARON! S-S-SHARK!!" Freckles suddenly shouted, nearly making the merman drop the new object. It turns out a huge shark had been following them, and was now right at the window. It bared its razor sharp teeth, before smashing head first into the glass. Aaron hastily stowed the object inside his bag before grabbing one of Freckles' fins and swimming like no tomorrow.
The two made it outside. So Aaron did the one thing he could think of. Swim to the surface and get closer to land. He kept a tight grip on Freckles, hoping that the shark wasn't as fast as he was. When they were nearly halfway to the surface, he stole a glance backwards. The shark....didn't even seem to be following at the same pace as before. It was circling underneath them, shooting Aaron a glare every so often.
He just simply let out a sigh of relief before beginning to swim back upwards once more, making a mental note to really listen to his friend more often.
Okay, names. So like I said before, Irene is the name of a Female!Triton. Valentina, as we start off with the new names, is a female variant of Sebastian. It sounded pretty and I feel it suits a composer such as herself. Aaron is a common name I personally see used for a Male!Ariel. So, since I couldn't think of anything better, I just went with that. As for Flounder....I just searched up female names for tropical or exotic fish and Freckles was one of them. So....that's pretty much the story for Flounder.
And as for this Henrietta I mentioned. Well....a female seagull is called a 'hen'.....so I'm pretty sure everyone knows what my personal take on a female name for Scuttle is now.
But whatever. I hope you all enjoyed!
