Gaming Tournament AU [Requested]

"Are you sure about this, Jeremy? You'll be surrounded by a crowd." Christine put her hand on Jeremy's shoulder.

He looked nervous and scared, but was also stubborn. "No, I want people to see I have skills!"

"Are you saying I'm not a person?!" Christine mocked a very mad tone. Making Jeremy laugh.

"You really know how to lighten the mood.."

Christine smiled widely, "Thanks. Now go do your thing, dude." Jeremy rolled his eyes with a smile, but walked inside anyways.
Inside was an old-school arcade, it was hard to believe the most modern kids still came here. He saw the competition posters and could hardly wait, but at the same time he didn't want to go at all.

Then it hit him when he saw the bottom of the neon posters, it said that Player would be here! The arcade legend. Jeremy was definitely not going to get 1st place any time soon.

Christine had to go a different route since she wasn't a competitor, Jeremy felt grateful for the fact she even considered coming. This probably would've been way worse if she hadn't, but Jeremy would have to wait for the upcoming events until his final desicion of good or bad was made.

"Name?" The person at the counter asked, a clipboard in his hands.

"Jeremy Heere."

"Yeah.. your here.." The man chuckled, Jeremy didn't think it was very funny.
"You can go up."

Jeremy nodded and left the line, walking  across the black carpet floors. He could see lots of people chatting, and buying things from the snack bar. His stomach reminded him that he was thirsty, Jeremy bought a bottle of mountain dew red, why not match old-school drinks to old-school arcades?

"Hey, is that mountain dew red? Where'd ya get it?" He felt a tap on his shoulder, he turned around to see a guy in a orange-ish red hoodie.

Jeremy pointed to the snack bar, "Over there.. you didn't see the menu?"

"I didn't know they sold that now! Thanks dude!" The boy finger-gunned him before running off to the counter.

Jeremy shrugged, not thinking much. His eyes came across a small group of kids, they looked familiar, didn't they go to his school? Yeah it was Rich, Jake, Chloe, Brooke, and Jenna, but they were all wearing black and blue high-tech bracelets. Not to mention their matching outfits, the colors were shades of blue and black, some parts were a shiny silver. It was surprisingly cool.

"Hey.. you in the compition?" Jeremy asked, trying his best not to stutter.

"Duh, please tell me you're not." Chloe spoke up, narrowing her blue eyes. For some reason they all had blue eyes.

"What are those bracelets for?"

"Oh this? It's a Squip, a computer bracelet to-" Brooke started off, but was soon cut off by Chloe.

"Shhhhhut up! Do you want him to win?!"

"No.." Brooke muttered, but it was almost too soon before she was as energetic as before.
Jeremy didn't want to say too much, so he left the group, he could feel their stares in his back. He met up with Christine, she was smiling like usual. "Long line?" Jeremy asked.

"Ha, yeah.. I read the posters. Didn't it say that the Player was going to be here? I can't remember much from what you told me.. but he was cool, right?"

"He has the top score on all the games here! Apparently if we beat him we get a super cool prize or something. I'm pretty sure that group over there is cheating with those.. Squip bracelets or something."
