Reyna walked down the hall of her new school. She got sideward glances from everyone. She didn't quite understand why though. Yes, she was a little different, but she wasn't...weird. She had her long brown hair in a tight braid going down her back, and was wearing a maroon and gold tank top with a tan cardigan over it and tan skinny jeans that were neatly tucked into brown combat boots. This was a completely normal fashion, so she did not understand why she was being looked at strangely. Maybe they had heard what had happened at her other school...but that was impossible. Why would they know? How could they know? But that doesn't matter. It might be the way she looked? She didn't know. She went down the hall like a normal person and went to her locker. She grabbed her math books and went to her class.
She walked into her classroom and sat next to an...interesting girl. She seemed very punk and unfriendly. She was leaned back in her chair, twirling her pencil in between her fingers. She seemed to refuse to look at her, which made her feel...a mix of emotions. She was slightly annoyed, angry, and confused. Why would she not even acknowledge her presence? She cleared her throat to see if she'd look over. She did not. She turned to her. "Are you even going to look over? To even acknowledge my existence?" she said. The girl looked over at her and raised an eyebrow. "Well excuse me." she said, with much attitude. "Didn't know I was obligated to say 'Oh hi! My name is Thalia! What's your name?' like a cutesie cheerleader." She definitely put a lot of sass into her words. She looked away and leaned back, propping her feet up onto the desk. Reyna was astonished. "And what gives you the right to talk to a person that way?" she spat back at her. She turned and looked at her with a face that even she probably couldn't describe. "And who is the one who told me that I was doing something wrong by not introducing myself? I don't give a crap whether or not you want attention. I say what I want, when I want, and the only person who can change that, is me. You can sit high on your pedestal, begging for attention, Your Highness, but I won't come crawling and praise you for all of your glory, cause frankly, you ain't got none. You don't deserve attention any more than I do." She scowled and moved to another seat. Reyna was speechless. How could someone be so rude? After a minute, the words she said sank in and Reyna realized, she was right. She had been expecting her to give her attention, and that was not right. She could've had anxiety and been emotionally unable to even look in her direction. She suddenly felt horrible. Then the teacher walked in and began to speak. "Well hello class!" She was clearly expecting a warm welcome, but there were a few mumbled "Hello's" and that was about it. "Welcome to your first day of school. Today we will be arranging where you sit and getting to know one another. Alright, stand up and line up against the wall and I will tell you where you will be seated this term. First at this table..." She began to read off names. Close to the middle of naming the seats, she said Reyna's name. "Reyna, you will be seated next to...ah, yes, Thalia!" The girl she had previously argued with, glared at her from across the room, and reluctantly moved to her new seat. She slumped in her seat and refused to look at her. Reyna sat next to her, her heart drooping. She hadn't meant to hurt or offend the girl. She decided that she needed to talk to her, and began to speak while the teacher was still announcing the seating chart. "I'm sorry for what happened," she said in a hushed tone. "I wasn't thinking, and I thought that you were just trying to be rude...I read to much into the situation, and I overreacted. I'm sorry..." She said the last two words with much emotion. The girl's expression softened a bit. "It's...It's fine. I overreacted as well. I should not have said those things to you..." Her reaction surprised Reyna. "I'm sorry too." Reyna smiled. "I hope that we can be friends." She said. The girl smiled faintly. "Yeah... me too."
