"good morning mi-"

luke's eyes widened when he swung open michael's door and saw him playing video games with two of he football players at their school.

"oh! hey, luke. this is ashton and calum." michael said, not even looking up.

"hi.." luke said shyly.

they smiled and nodded at him before turning back to their game.

"what did you need?" michael asked.

"well. me and y-your mom we're gonna make cookies and i wanted to see if you maybe wanted to help." luke said softly, and kicked at the ground.

"no, i'm fine." michael mumbled.

"okay.." luke whispered, and left the room quickly.

he felt awkward around michael's friends.

he ran down the stairs and into the kitchen. he sat at a bar stool and karen smiled over at him.

"just the two of us?" she asked, and luke nodded.

"alright. well, you start making the icing." she said, and slid a bowl over to luke.

luke smiled as he started stirring, and looked up.

"i love you, mama c."

karen looked over at luke and smiled too.

"and i love you, luke."
