The light streamed in through the opening of the door the moment the latch opened up. The sun was blinding. Even for me. And we weren' down there for that long. The sun was burning down hard on the field. The trees doing little to cast a shadow over the remaining people still outside. I smiled. After staying so long in the hospital for Mike. It felt good to finely be able to relax.
I know that after everything we have gone through I realize it isn't really the time yet to just relax. We still have the rogues and the hunter to worry for. Apparently also of very dangerous head hunter who has some strange plan. But I couldn't help the feeling I currently had. I could finely stop worrying over mate. It was horrible waking up everyday worrying if he would die today or find the courage to open his eyes.
It felt good to breath freely. It was like a heavy weight had finely dropped of my shoulders. I smiled into the wind that was blowing around me. Conner stopped walking the moment I had stopped walking. Turner stayed downstairs to finish some business before he was returning home to his little mate.
"It's good to see you smile like that again." I looked his way to see him smile too. "After what happened with Mike, I didn't think I would see that again."
"It feels good to smile again." He only nodded. He turned around and looked at the pack house that was laying a bit in front of us.
"You know, all of this, it's going too fast" I looked at his backside. His shoulders were slumped.
"What do you mean?" I asked the question while walking closer to him so I was standing next to him. I looked at the side of his face. His eyes seemed to be staring in stead of looking at the house.
"We finely have are mates and we didn't even take the time to spent a couple of minutes with them. I haven't really sat down with Leon for very long. Hence why we haven't mated yet." He turned his head at me and smiled. "And you. The moment you knew Mike was your mate, you almost lost him to some rogues."
I blinked to keep the tears out of my eyes.
"And when he woke up, he went to war again. Helping saving me. And then we are doing this. Because of this thing you didn't even got the chance to sit down with him and have a decent conversation. You didn't get to know him, because they almost took those chances." He looked back at the house.
"You know, the rogues aren't ready yet to attack us again. Plus we have Dyno on our side. I think we should stop for today and just take this day to ourselves. Spent them with our mates."
I nodded my head at his sentence.
"We all need our mates, all our wolves do. We will be stronger if we spend more time with them. So that's what we should do."
"Maybe he is right, One day won't hurt us" Before my wolf could even finish his thought I could hear Connor's voice over the mind link.
"I feel like taking a day off. I order all of you who has been working with us on this rogue case to do the same. Go spent some times with your family. We have another day tomorrow." You could hear some wolves react happily. I smiled at him when he looked at me with a lifted brow.
"Go on! Go get your mate and go have some fun!" He winked before turning around in search for Leon. "Keep it clean!" I laughed at his response before yelling the same sentence to him. It was only a couple seconds later when I felt the muscular chest of my mate against my back. I could feel his breath against my neck.
"Where are you going in such a hurry?" His voice brought goosebumps all over my back. Sending shiver all through my body. The breath against my neck making me sigh in contentment. I smiled when I felt his lip press softly against it.
"I was going to look for you?" Somehow the statement came out more like a question then I had intended to. I could feel the vibration of his chuckle all through his chest against my back.
"Well, then you're lucky you don't need to search any farther then this!" I smiled and turned my head so I could look him in the eye. I looked at him for a while without saying anything. He stared back, straight into my eyes, like he was looking right through me. The silence somehow felt right. It sadly only lasted a couple of seconds, before mike broke it with a whisper. "What's wrong?"
I softly shook my head and pressed my forehead against his neck while closing my eyes. "Nothing's wrong, I was just thinking I was indeed lucky I didn't have to search farther." He smiled down at me, quickly enclosing his arms around me even harder. I lift myself up on my tiptoes and press my lips against his, a sigh escaping our connected lips.
"So what do you want to do with our free day? We might not get one of those in a long while." I nodded my head at his words and pressed my head against his shoulder. It was a beautiful day today, so we could do a lot of things outdoor if we wanted to.
"We could go to the lake a little farther from here, go for a little swim out there, take a pick-nick basket with us." I could feel Mike humming at my words. He started walking forward forcing me to walk backwards. I looked at him again with a chuckle before spinning out of his arms and next to him.
"I'm glad we can do something like this. I wish I paid more attention to you in the past. Then maybe we wouldn't have had such a bad start." I looked at him and lifted my shoulders.
"Maybe, but it's not like I was always here. I spent more times in other packs and other countries then I did here. And the times I was home I spent sleeping or handing around with Conner. We probably would have run into each other."
"I can imagine you weren't all that happy with me at the beginning..." Mike's voice trailed off. I stopped walking and took a hold of his wrist. He furrowed his brow while turning around.
"I wasn't, not at all." His face fell. "But like I said, that doesn't mean I regret what I did. I did the same thing to you that Connor did to Leon. It wasn't any better." He looked in my eyes. I leaned over and pressed my lips softly to his. "But I was furious, I knew what happened to Leon, but I was never home long enough to change it. The fact that my mate would have known and even helped in all these years of torment, it made me lose myself." Again I pressed a soft kiss to his lips. "But you shouldn"t take all the blame."
He nodded his head. "Let's talk about something else, so we can really get to know each other." I nodded. I didn't want to keep reliving the past few days. Seeing Mike in the hospital was horrible enough. Now that he is awake I don't want to miss another chance to get to know him.

It was late when we came back from the lake. It's been way too long since I had such a nice day. We talked a lot, swam in the lake, enjoyed each other and had a lovely pick-nick. On the way back we had decided to get a quick dinner at a local restaurant.
We decided we would end the day with a romantic comedy. I would have enjoyed some action better, but with everything we had to withstand the past couple of weeks, we have seen enough action as it is.
Mike was sitting on the couch resting against the armrest. I was sitting next to him, my legs next to me, my face resting against his chest. Every time he laughed I felt his body shake. I looked up at him.
In that moment, I realized something.
I have never felt so peaceful and so relaxed as I did in that moment. I couldn't wait for my forever.
