Ch:9 Flying Monkeys

"Iridium, what did they need the Iridium for?" Bruce asked, but then Tony and Phil walked in while talking

"It's a stabilizing agent." Tony says, then whispered something to Phil, i wasn't too sure what though. "Means the portal won't collapse on itself, like it did at SHIELD" Tony also said. "No hard feelings Point Break, you've got a mean swing." Tony also said, patting Thor's arm. "Also, it means the portal can open as wide, and stay open as long, as Loki wants." Tony added on. Tony started talking, but i wasn't concentrating until i heard him say, "That man is playing gallaga!" I looked towards the direction Tony was pointing to, "Thought we wouldn't notice, but we did." He finished his sentence. Tony then walked towards monitors. More specifically monitors that Fury uses as well. Tony then covered one of his eyes, "How does Fury even see these?" He asked. I scoffed, "He turns." An agent said. "Sounds exhausting." Tony breathed out. "The rest of the raw materials, Agent Barton can get his hands on pretty easily. Only major component he still needs is a power source. A high energy density, something to kick start the cube." Tony said. "Anyone else understanding?" I whispered looking around. "When did you become an expert in thermonuclear astrophysics?" The same agent as before asked, "Last night." Tony smirked, "The packet, Selvig's notes, the Extraction Theory papers. Am I the only one who did the reading?" I rolled my eyes. "Does Loki need any particular kind of power source?" Steve asked. "He got to heat the cube to a hundred and twenty million Kelvin just to break through the Coulomb barrier." Bruce said. "Unless, Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunnelling effect." Tony said, still talking sciency. "Well, if he could do that he could achieve Heavy Ion Fusion at any reactor on the planet." Bruce replied. "Finally, someone who speaks English." Tony exclaimed and started walking towards Bruce. "Seriously?" "Is that what just happened?" Steve and I said at the same time. "It's good to meet you, Dr. Banner. You're work on anti-electron collisions is unparalleled. And I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster." I slapped my forehead as a face palm. "Thanks." Bruce said uncomfortable. "Dr. Banner is only here to track the cube. I was hoping you might join him. " Fury said walking into the room. "Let's start with that stick of his. It may be magical, but it works an awful lot like a Hydra weapon." Steve said. "I don't know about that, but it is powered by the cube. And I'd like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys." I smiled at the phrase. "Monkeys? I do not understand." Thor asked, face full of confusion. "I do! I understood that reference." Steve said, feeling proud of himself. He turned to face me while smiling. I quickly flashed him a warm smile before turning my glance to Bruce and Tony as they left towards the science rooms. "Wanna explore the place?" I asked Steve as we both had nothing to do, "Sure." Steve breathed out. I watched as Steve stood up, getting lost in his eyes, "You coming?" Steve asked, breaking me from the trance. "Um yeah sure. I just need to talk to Fury." I said and walked towards him. "Can i have my earpiece back?" I asked him. "As long as you don't contact the ASI for an escape. You can only contact them about why you are at SHIELD." I nodded. Fury eyed me suspiciously before handing me my earpiece. I quickly placed it in my ear and walked towards Steve. "Lets go."
