One month later.
"Lilly!" Dinah's voice rings throughout the house, causing Normani to jolt up from her sleeping position against the wall. She was just resting her body for a moment.
Normani had been doing good for herself - So good, that she was now able to buy Lilly diapers by herself - but she was tired. Between working the night shift, and coming home to look after Lilly, and cleaning... She was exhausted.
Normani squinted her eyes in confusion. Dinah was home? Her eyes drifted to the clock as she straightened herself out, stretching her tired muscles while groaning in satisfaction. Around this time, the blonde would still be, what Normani knew as, "working".
She'd been living with Dinah for just over a month, but she still didn't know what Dinah did for a living, except that she worked with Kehlani regularly (who still hit on Normani, and begged her to use that card) and that she worked with her mother. Normani was always a bit weary, but at least she didn't think that Dinah was dealing drugs. But one could see that she was wealthy. So she must be doing something important.
Today was Saturday, one that Normani had off. But Dinah worked everyday.
Normani rested the broom against the wall to see what was going on with Dinah and Lilly. "What did she do now?" She muttered under her breath while walking.
Lilly, now comfortable around Dinah, adopted the blonde's excited ways, and became... mischievous.
Normani knew that Dinah liked to draw, so it was nothing new when Lilly came to her with a pencil in her hand. She figured that the two year old could do no harm. She thought wrong...
When Normani had went up to clean later that day, she found one of the walls, a quarter filled with scribbles. To say that she was angry, and that Dinah was proud, was an understatement. Normani didn't like settling too much.
She liked Dinah though. Although the blonde showcased some... childlike characteristics, she was still caring, and that's what made Normani like her. It would be awkward if she didn't though.
She marched all the way up to where the giggles were coming from, and stopped at the door, just to witness the sight of Lilly studying Dinah's face. "Eyes." Her thin voice squeaked as she pointed at Dinah's eyes.
"Good girl. What about this?" Dinah asks, praising the girl while pointing at her nose.
"Uh..." Lilly smoothes her tiny hands over it. "Nos!"
"Close, but good." Dinah chuckles as she takes Lilly's hand off her nose. "It's nose. Say it with me. Nose."
"Nose?" Lilly repeats, and Dinah removes her hands from Lilly to seat her on the floor across from her to applaud her. Lilly giggles at the praise.
Normani smiles a sad smile as she leans against the door, closing her eyes. She wished that she could spend more time with Lilly to teach her things like this, but time wasn't something in her favour.
"Normani?"
Her eyes snap open at the mention of her name. "Hey." Dinah frowns as she picks Lilly up and places her on her hip in the process. "Are you okay?"
Another thing Normani liked. Dinah's concern for her. Every night she popped her head in Normani's room (as it's known now), to make sure that she has enough blankets for Lilly before she leaves.
"I'm fine." Normani waves the blonde off with her hand as she pushes herself up off of the door frame and readies herself to walk away. "Just cleaning. Wanted to make sure Lilly wasn't up to any mischief again." She adds as she begins walking away, ready to start sweeping again.
