13 - Suspicions

Hitomi's POV

"Ugh... What?" I slowly opened my eyes to be faced with a white ceiling. I stared at it for a moment before sitting up from the bed I was laying on. "Where am I?" I mumbled. The last thing I remember was seeing Genos. After that, I blacked out. 

"Hitomi!"

I looked towards the door as Saitama, Genos, and Kiba burst into the room. "What happened to you?! Are you okay?!" Saitama yelled. "I'm sore," I answered. "Where am I?" 

"You're in the hospital." Genos answered. "The hospital?" I repeated. Did Genos bring me here? "What happened to you?" Saitama asked. I didn't answer as I stared at Kiba. He's not supposed to be here? What's he doing here?

I thought I erased his memories? Unless something, or someone, helped him refreshed his memories. "Hitomi, what happened? Who did this to you?" Saitama repeated. "Um... uh..." I trailed off as I tried to think of an excuse. 

Genos's phone rang and he answered it. "Hello? Uh-huh. Okay, I'm on my way," Genos hung up and put his phone back in his pocket. "That was the Hero Association. They want us over there immediately." He informed.

"But what about Hitomi? We can't just leave her here." Saitama said. "I'll be fine. I'm in the hospital, after all." I stated. "I don't know..." Saitama mumbled. "Hitomi, I suggest that you come with us." Genos said. 

"Why?"

"I just think you'll be safer with us. Whoever did this to you might come back and do it again." 

"Uh..." 

'Let's see, Hitomi. Let's think for a second. It's either go back to an abusive mother or stick with your best friends who you haven't seen in a month.' I thought. "Okay. As long as I'm with you guys, that's fine with me." I said, shrugging. 

After checking out of the hospital, we headed to the Hero Association. I was limping a bit since my body still hurt. Kiba took notice of this and picked up, then put me on his back.

"Kiba...?"

"I'll carry you. You're still sore, right?"

I blushed a bit, but didn't say anything as I let him carry me. We walked down a hallway where an old man was waiting for us. "Bang, huh? Or should I just call him Silver Fang." I mumbled. "You know of him, Hitomi?" Genos asked.

"A little bit." I said. "Ah, Genos. Saitama. You made it." Bang said, then looked at Kiba and I. "Why have you brought children with you?" He asked.

"This is Kiba Inzuka and Hitomi Ninamotoe. Hitomi was just assaulted by someone, so we brought her here where we think she'll be safe." Genos explained. "Hey! Don't tell him my business, Genos!" I snapped.  

"She was assaulted by a monster?" Bang asked. "Yes, but it wasn't a monster who attacked her. Rather a human." Genos informed. "Stop talking about it, damn it!" I yelled. "Don't worry, young lady. You're safe here." Bang assured. "I doubt it." I mumbled under my breath. 

"Why do you doubt it?" Kiba asked. I almost forgot he was carrying me. "Huh? Oh, sorry. Forget I said anything." I said, and he began to walk forward, following Bang, Genos, and Saitama. 

"Hey, speaking of forgetting, why did you make me forget about you?" Kiba asked. 

"Huh?"

"Saitama told me about your powers. Why did you want me to forget about you? Did I do something wrong?"

"What? No, no. You didn't do anything wrong." 

"Then, why do it? Aren't we friends?"

"Of course we are. I just... I don't know," I looked down in guilt. "I'm just scared." I said, quietly. "Of what?" Kiba asked. 'Not what. Who.' I thought. 

"Kiba, you can set me down now. I'm okay to walk." I informed. Kiba looked at me with worry, then set me down on his feet. I took a step forward and pain shot up my leg, through my spine. "Ow!" I yelped as I fell forward, but Kiba was there to catch me. 

"Hitomi!" Saitama and Genos ran over to me. "Are you okay?" Genos asked. "Yeah, I'm fine." I said. "She's still in pain. We shouldn't have taken her out of the hospital." Kiba said as Akamaru barked in agreement. 

"I'm fine, guys. Really." I insisted. "Let's take you to the infirmary." Bang offered. "You guys have an infirmary?" Saitama asked. "Yes. Come, this way." Bang said, leading the way. Genos picked me up and carried me to the infirmary Bang mentioned. 

Once I was there, one of the B-Class Heroes, Fubuki, aka Blizzard of Hell, took a look at me. She examined my body while Kiba, Genos, Saitama, and Bang waited outside. "You body is covered in bruises. So?" Fubuki said.

"So, what?" I asked. "How did this happened?" She asked. "I don't wanna talk about it." I said, hesitantly. "Why not?" Fubuki questioned. I remained quiet, not answering her question.

Genos's POV

While Hitomi was getting checked out, I kept thinking about who could've done this to her. "Tough break for Hitomi. Who do you think could've done this her?" Saitama asked. "I believe it was a human." Bang said. 

"A human?" We all asked at the same time. "Are you sure?" Kiba asked.

"Well, think about it. Wouldn't a monster have done much more damage than this? The monsters out there are ruthless and enjoy seeing us in pain. Besides, you said, you found Hitomi like this, right? This was no random ambush. Someone who knew Hitomi did this to her." Bang explained.

"Then, who? Who would want to hurt Hitomi this badly?" I asked. "Your guess is as good as mine. But the only way we'll get the answer is from Hitomi herself." He said, looking towards the door Hitomi went through. 

I haven't spotted Hitomi anywhere outside for a whole month, so she must've been inside her house. So, that means her attacker was... someone from inside her house. But the only person who lives with Hitomi is her mother, Marika Ninamotoe.

I froze when I think I've figure it out. 

No, but that can't be. Marika couldn't have been the one who did this to Hitomi, her own daughter. 

It couldn't have been her... could it?

Marika's POV

"She'll be back any second now." I whispered. I sat down at the table as I had my cellphone in my hand and stared at it, waiting for Hitomi to call me.

Back in the past, Hitomi would call me and tell me where she is. She knew how I wanted her to be safe, so she'd always follow my rules and call me.

"She'll call me any second. Hitomi's a good angel. You'll always does what her mother tells her. She'll call soon... Any minute now... Any minute now..."
