Dallyboy still got each other

hard to say goodbye

Third person p.o.v
The gang was getting all spruced up. Tonight was the big rumble, greasers versus soc. Everyone was all hyped up for it except ponyboy. He had a bad feeling something was going to happen that night. "After we beat those soc, and chase them out of town, me and steve are gonna throw a party and everyone's gonna get drunk" soda piped up. Pony smiled a little, but still couldn't help feeling sad. Both his boyfriend and bestfriend were in hospital. His bestfriend johnny might even die.

"Time to go kick some soc but greasers" two-bit yelled. And with that everyone was out the door doing kartwheels and other crazy stunts. They reached the lot where tim sheppard and his gang were waiting. "Too bad dally's missin this one" tim said soon as he noticed dal wasn't with his gang. "Who says i'm missin out on this rumble?" Dally said appearing out of nowhere. He went and stood next to pony. He thought he would need the most help during the rumble, and secretly he didn't want his boyfriend to get hurt. "You sure your up for this kid?" Dally questioned. Pony was a bit surprised. If they weren't dating dal would have teased him if he didn't fight. But now dal felt the need to keep pony safe and protected.

The soc arrived in four car loads. There was at least twenty of them. They were all much bigger then pony. Both darry and dal looked at pony. "Stay close kid" they both said at the same time. Pony took the first punch and was on the ground. Soc's were stomping all over him, dally pulled the soc off him. Next thing they heard was yelling. The soc were running and the greasers were cheering. "Come on, we gotta go see johnny" dal said helping pony up.

They drove to the hospital with pony curled up next to dal on the front seat. "Are you ok?" Dal asked pony. When no one was around dal was more caring. "I just wanna see johnny, i got a real bad feeling dal" pony said. He felt some tears on his cheeks. Dal kissed the top of his head. "Everything will be ok" he whispered.

They reached the hospital and shared a quick peck on the lips before getting out of the car. They walked inside and went straight to johnny's room. He looked worse then the last time they seen him. "Hey johnny, how you doin kid?" Dal spoke first. "We beat the soc  and we're still reading about you in the papers about bein a hero man. We sure are proud of you kid" "no more fights" johnny said. "Pony" he started to whisper "i know there's somethin goin on between you two" johnny said. Pony and dal looked at each other. Johnny spoke again "look i'm ok with it, actually it kinda makes things easier knowing you got each other. And don't care what others might say, if you love each other then so be it." Johnny's breath was starting to get more shallow. "Stay gold" that was the last thing johnny said before he finally slipped away.

Dal put his arms around pony and they both cried. "Come on i'll take you home before your brothers start to get worried". Dal helped pony out to his car. He didn't let go of pony. "Dal" "yeah babe" "i don't wanna go home" pony sobbed. He just wanted the comfort of his bofriends arms. "Ok i'll take you back to bucks and i'll call darry so he won't worry" dal said. He didn't want to be alone either.

Dally and pony arrived at bucks. Pony had almost fallen asleep. "Come on babe i'll put you to bed" dal whispered as he lifted his boyfriend out of the car. He gave pony a kiss on the forhead and carried him upstairs to his room. "I'll be right back, just gotta call your brothers" dal said before going back downstairs to use the phone.

Dally dialed the curtis's phone number "hello darry" he said when darry picked up. "Yeah, are you ok dal, have you seen pony?" Darry asked, you could hear the worry in his voice. "Yeah darry, i'm ok, listen pony's here with me, do you mind if he stays here tonight and i'll bring him home in the morning.  We were just at the hospital, johnny didn't make it" dal explained barely getting the words out. "Sorry to hear that dal, i'll let the boys know. We'll see you and pony in the morning" darry said and they both hung up.

Dally ran back upstairs to his room and found pony hugging his knees and crying on his bed. Dally laid on his bed and got pony to lay with him. He put his arms around pony while pony lay on his chest. They stayed like that til they both fell asleep.
