Dallyboy still got each other

last day of summer holidays.

Ponyboy was in his room making sure he had everything he needed for his fitst day back at school. He was moving real slow. In fact he was moping so much, even dal was getting annoyed. "Come on babe, it's not like your being shipped off to boarding school or nothin" dallas had been laying on the bed watching pony pack his rucksack.

"Easy for you to say, your not the one who has to go to school, and not be able to see their boyfriend for three to four hours, and then another two hours after lunch. Also this will be the first year without johnny at school" pony shed a couple of tears. He had his back to dallas. "Come over here" dal reached out his arms. He pulled pony onto the bed with him and just held him close.

Even though johnny had been gone a few months it was still hard to talk about him. Especially for dallas and ponyboy, who had both been his best friends. "Why don't we go pay johnny a visit today" dal suggested pony wasn't sure he was ready to go to the cemetary just yet, but he also felt bad for not going. "Yeah i guess so" he finally agreed.

Darry was ok with him going out on school  nights as long as he was home by seven thirty. Pony finished packing his bag and followed dallas out the door. They headed to the dx. Just a stop on the way. When they reached the dx they couldn't see steve or soda anywhere, and the sign on the door said back in five.

They noticed steve's car was still there,  so they couldn't have gone too far. Dal walked around the shop and banged on all the windows. After afew minutes both steve and soda walked out. It was obvious what the two had been doing. "Whatta you two want" steve sounded annoyed as if he were stopped right in the middle of something good. "Yeah pone, i though you were makin sure you had everything you needed for tomorrow" soda blushed as he spoke.

"We're takin a break, gonna go and visit johnny, and thought we'd stop by" pony spoke to his big brother. "Ok well you know its a school night, and you know how darry gets" soda was rambling on. He was trying to avoid talking about what he and steve had been up too.

Dallas went into the shop and grabbed two cokes and a pepsi. "Are you sure you counted right dal, i mean it is just the two of us going isn't it?" Pony looked at dallas.  "Yeah yeah, i just thought i'd grab one for johnnycake, thats all" this made pony smile. "And thats one of the many reasons why i love you dallas winston" dal kissed him on the cheek.

They said goodbye to steve and soda, not before dal jokingly turned to steve, "hey steve you got a little somethin on your chin" steve started to wipe his chin, soda blushed an even darker shade of red then before. Pony and dallas  almost couldn'control their laughter.

When they arrived at the cemetary, they sat in the car for a few minutes. "It's not fair,we shouldn't have to be visiting him like this" pony still blamed himself for johnny's death. "You come over when your ready" dal told pony as he got out of the car. Ten minutes late pony slowly walked over to where dal was sitting by johnny's grave. He pulled the two cokes and the pepsi out of his pockets. He handed the pepsi to pony.

He then opened one of the cokes and took a sip. He opened the other coke and poored it over johnny's grave. A tear rolled down dally's cheek. "We miss ya buddy" he said. Pony was about to say something, but a lump caught his throat. "You ok babe?" Dal asked. Pony shook his head as the tears began to fall. Dal grabbed him and held himm while he cried into his chest.

"Sorry" pony whisperd after he was able to calm down some. "Don't be sorry, we all loved johnny, and we all know how close you two were, hey even i use to get a little jelous of johnny having more time with you". They said their goodbyes to their buddy, and started to head for the car.

Before they reached the car, pony grabbed dal's arm. "Dal, would you mind coming over to my mum and dads graves before we leave?" This took dallas by surprise. Pony had not been to there graves since the funeral almost a year ago. "Sure if thats what you want" dal grabbed his hand and they headed for pony's mum and dad.

"I feel like i should have brought some flowers or somethin" pony spoke with a hint of guilt in his voice. "Just bein here is all that matters babe" dal new just the right words to say. Pony spoke to his parents as if they were still alive. He told them about how he was in love with dallas winston. Dally kissed pony's cheek and whispered "i love you so much ponyboy michael curtis".

After they they finished visiting the graveyard, they decided to head back to the curtis house. They ate dinner and headed for the bedroom. "Did you notice how quiet soda and steve were at the table" the both chuckled. Dal lay on the bed next to pony. He was staying only until pony fell asleep. "Sure you won't stay" pony yawned. "Not tonight babe. I don't want you distracted the night before school starts. I promise i'll be here in the morning to drop you off" he kissed pony's lips.  Pony had started to softly snore. Dallas smiled at him " good night my angel" he whispered and quietly left the room.
