The first time I saw him
I had a mouth full of gravel
Grinding my teeth
Trying to get the right words out.
The first time I saw him
He was built like the word
Sunrise
And moved like the word
Moonlight.
The first time I saw him
He was nose deep in a book
And up to his ears in
The world.
And the last time I saw him
Was in the future
With someone who was
Not me.
Someone who was a
New planet
New alphabet
New color.
