Ch. 19 Waking up

Ch. 19 Waking up

I slowly opened up my eyes the next morning, at least I'm pretty sure it was the next morning.

What day would that make it? Saturday? Wow, yesterday was my first day this year and I'm already in the healing center overnight.

That has to be a record right?

My eyes got used to the light coming from the window. The sun was bright, that means it was late morning. Was it even morning?

I took a quick glance around the room, there wasn't anyone here.

Wait, was Nathan here last night?

As hard as I try, I can barely remember anything that happened since I was attacked. I had the strangest dream though....

I did something I never knew I would..and then those kids? 

"Hey Ames" I heard a voice from the door. Who calls me Ames anyways?

"Um, Hello?" I said looking towards the door, oh it's Skye. "Oh, Hi Skye" I said smiling, which soon turned into a grimace when I tried sitting up.

"That's probably not the best idea" Skye said smirking as he sat on the edge on my bed.

I chuckled "What time is it anyways?" 

"It's around noon, just about everyone is at lunch, so I came to see you." He said his smile fading

"Ha, I probably look like a mess." I said looking away, there was something in his eyes that just hold you there. Something about them...that's different.

"Yeah, you do" He said chuckling as I frowned. "but it's okay, you're still.."

"Huh?"

"Oh nothing." He replied and changed the subject rather quickly.

"Ames, I don't think you should leave school grounds without Nathan or I anymore." He said seriously.

"I know, I just feel bad that you guys have to follow me around everywhere. If I'm supposed to be so strong, why can't I handle myself, by myself?" 

"Trust me, it's no chore, and you will be able to defend yourself, in time." 

"In what time? Before or after I'm dead?" I said starting to get a bit hysterical.

"Ames, calm down. It's okay. Everything's going to be okay. Shh"

I slowly calmed down with Skye's reassuring words. 

"Listen, I'm sorry about last night" He said scratching the back of his head.

"Why? What happened?" I asked confused, he seemed really nervous, what happened?

"You don't remember anything?" He said, his eyes showed a certain kind of sadness.

"I had this really weird dream, but it was probably just the medication." I dismissed it with a wave of a hand.

"Ames, I need you to tell me what it was about" He pleaded, with the most desperate look in his eyes.

"Well, it almost was like a memory? It seemed like, it was me and you.....then my memory was erased, and I was sent to..the human realm maybe?" I finished omitting a HUGE part.

"And?" He said expectantly looking at me

I barely whispered "We kissed....and not in the memory either" then I continued louder, "Crazy right?"

He looked at me, with his beautiful blue eyes, that could stare straight into your soul.

"Amey. That was no dream." 

I just stared at him in shock.

"We can't tell Nathan." I whispered as I stared at him wide eyed.

"Do you regret it though?" He said looking down, avoiding my gaze.

"No, but Skye...you know I love Nathan" I whispered so low I didn't know if he heard me or not.

"I won't stop fighting. Just like I didn't stop looking for you. This is a promise just like that one. You will be mine Ames, no matter what. I thought I was just supposed to protect you, but I was so wrong. Stay with Nathan now though, he's a royal, it'll be good for you." His eyes had been taken over by a cold fierceness I had never seen before.

"Hey guys! What's going on?" I heard Nathan's voice from the door.

"Oh nothing, I just came to check on Amey before I went to lunch, seems she's woken up."

When he finished he looked over back at me with a look that said 'don't tell him anything'  I slightly nodded to him. I also noticed he changed his nickname for me, huh. Another secret.

"but anyways, I'm going to get some lunch."

"Speaking of lunch I'm starving" I said in my regular complaining voice, one I used way too often by the way. 

"That's good, 'cause I brought you some food sleepy head." Nathan said smirking as he walked over and Skye slipped out the door, winking back at me as he left. 

"Thanks!" I said smiling and looking over the food he had brought me. Nathan is so good to me...I just feel different after seeing that memory though.

"Anything for my princess" He said and ruffled my hair as he sat on the edge of my bed, taking Skye's spot. 

"You know I hate it when you call me that, and I already look like enough of a mess, you don't have to make it worse" I stuck my tounge out at him and paused before asking

"Did you know me before I was lost in the Human realm?"my curiosity got the better of me, what can I say? 

"Why do you ask?" He asked confused.

I had just taken a bite of my food and there was a silence before I swallowed and answered "Just wondering"

"No, sadly, I didn't get the chance to meet you before you were lost."

Looks like I'm not the only liar here. Turns out I am the better one though.

Sorry it's so short :/ It was pretty good and informative though right? I don't really know Skye's character though so it's so hard writing dialogue for him :/
