Chapter 16
Everything is numb. My heart. My brain. My legs. My arms. My lungs. Feeling? please enlighten me.
I stare at Ryder. It's not like Belle's death. Blood didn't ooze from his skull. This face didn't turn pale. I'm confused, and scared.
And completely utterly broken.
Bryan cheered and rounded the chair to face me. "You see that princess?" he pointed to Ryder, who I swear moved. "He's dead. Forever." Bryan smirked and stood taller, crossing his arms over his chest.
Bubbles traveled from my stomach and up to my throat. How can I have anything to throw up? but I did anyway. I clutched my stomach with my hands and opened my mouth wide, hunching over in my chair. Yellow fluids poured out of my mouth and onto my shoes.
This isn't real. Nun of this is real. I'll wake up in my bed, and Ryder will be laying right next to me. Sleeping soundly. Alive.
I let out an ear piercing scream that followed with sorrow filled sobs. A ping in my heart made me scream again. Bryan yelled something me, but I heard nun of it. He shook me furiously, but I felt nothing. I shut my eyes tight, continuing to scream.
Bryan stopped shaking me. His yelling can to a sudden halt. The screaming made my throat go numb as well so I just sobbed, making goat noises and choking in my own snot.
"Airsoft gun bitch." My eyes shot open at the owner of the voice. Sparking blue eyes gave me all the reassurance I needed. I pushed my self down into the chair and cried harder.
But not because I was sad, or depressed, but because he was alive.
Ryder was alive.
That bastard pretending to be dead. Next time he does that I'll kill him.
I shut my eyes and smiled listening to the ripping of flesh and squirting of blood. The gasping of Bryan and the grunting as a knife reemerged from his body.
It's absolutely crazy how quickly someone's mood can turn from my-life-is-over-forever to oh-my-frogs-thank-god-I'm-so-happy.
"You-" I sniffed snot back up my nose and coughed "you had a knife all along, that you could cut through- the ropes." Th hiccuped and wiped at my teary eyes.
"All part of the plan." He chuckled and threw the gun across the room "though that did hurt my head." Ryder rubbed his head for a moment before cutting the ropes at my ankles. "Let my carry you." Before I had anytime to reply Ryder swept me off my feet and began bridal style carrying me.
Tears wouldn't stop falling and my attempts to wipe them away were useless. "Don't cry anymore." Ryder rubbed his thumb and index finger on the back of my neck. "Your safe now." Ryder opened the door and quickly tiptoed from the room. He turned left around a corner and walked door the long hallway until we reached a small door on the right hand side. "Here." Ryder whispered and pushing the door open "crawl through here, I'll be right behind you." I nodded quietly and began crawling in my hands and knees. I heard the door shut behind me and then Ryder catching up. His breath was hot on the backs of my thighs. Its so comforting to have him here. And to have him here alive.
After about 5 minutes of crawling we came to a larger door above our heads. i pulled on a black metal latch that snapped open. I pushed up on one side and was automatically blinded by the light. I blinked numerous times to adjust. "Here." Ryder grabbed my waist and pushed me up slowly. After Ryder got out, he had me follow him around a tall grey building. I have yet to see a tree. Or any green plants.
"Stay by the motorcycle. If some creepy guy come you go... with me- I'll be fine." I nodded. Speech still wasn't coming to me. I don't know when it will. Now that everything in sinking in I'm fully aware that I was going to die, had Ryder not been here in time. I would be dead.
Ryder patted the top of my head and sprinted around the grey building.
Around 30 minutes later, I began to panic, but did as Ryder instructed me.
Ryder rounded the building. His face in somewhat of a bitter sweet expression painted across his face. "We're safe." He said smiling. "Forever. We are safe." I don't necessarily want to know what Ryder just did to guarantee our safety.. but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with that insane father of mine. "Ryder?" I began walking toward him and met him half way with a hug. "Yes Blake?"
I rested my chin on his chest gazing up at him. "It's crazy but.... you should like... Totally be my boyfriend." I blushed and smiled foolishly. "Just because?" His smile stretched from ear to ear. "Just because."
Ryder forehead wrinkled before he asked the next question "and be together forever?"
"Pinky promise." I held my pinky up to Ryder.
"Pinky promise." He smiled, intertwining his finger with mine.
"You can't break a pinky promise." I smirked, remembering.
"No..." He said smirking as well. "No you can not."
