    “NINE!,” shouts Lady Cap.

“Yes?,” replies Nine, poking their colorful head of hair through the door of the room.

“Where is Julian? I need to talk with him.”

“You told me the same thing two hours ago and I already texted Julian to come home. There isn’t much more I can do,” says Nine, annoyed.

Julian finally arrives home and meanders to his mother’s room. “What did you need?,” he asks. “Well, speak of the devil and he shall come,” says Lady Cap, “Nine, I need to speak with my son privately.”

Nine exits the room, leaving Julian and Lady Cap the only two.

“What is your opinion on marriage?,” questions Lady Cap.

“Mother,” Julian whines, “you know I don’t want to get married. I can’t have that kind of commitment in my life and I only seventeen.”

“You're almost eighteen,” corrects Lady Cap, “but maybe this will change your mind,” pulling a piece of paper out of her pantsuit jacket pocket and she hands it to Julian.

Julian looks at the paper and then back at his mother in disbelief and horror, “Priscilla!?,” he asks, “Mom, I think it’s finally time I tell you something.”

“You can tell me anything, dear.”

“Promise me you won’t tell Dad or freak out or anything,” he pleads, “Just try to keep and open mind and don’t kick me out.”

“You’re really starting to worry me. What’s on your mind?”

Julian sits down on a chair across from his mother, “Mom,” he begins, “I don’t know any other way to tell you this but,” he pauses, taking a breath,

“I’m gay.”

Julian hangs his head in shame waiting for his mother’s response. Lady Cap then does something that surprises Julian, she starts to laugh.

Her reaction makes Julian upset, “Did his mother think he was joking?,” he feels tears start to prick at his eyes, ready to get up.

“I have known for a very long time, I’ve been waiting for you to finally tell me.”

She gets up and gives her son a big hug, consoling him, “And don’t worry, I won’t tell your father,” she sighs, “He wouldn’t be as accepting as I. We have two completely different viewpoints.”

“Thanks Mom,” mumbles Julian into his mother’s shirt.

Lady Cap raises her son’s head and wipes his tears, “Enough of that,” she says, “you have to get ready for tonight’s party.”

Julian nods his head as his mother shoos him out of her room. Just before he leaves her room she says, “And don’t worry about Priscilla, I’ll get rid of her.” Giving her son a sly wink, Julian giving a small smile in return, closes the door gently behind himself.

Upon exiting the room, Julian sighs and looks towards Nine, who was listening the whole time, and smiles. They return the smile, “How did it go?,” they inquire.

“Better than I thought it would,” replies Julian, “Thank you for always being here for me Nine.”

Nine pulls Julian into a tight hug, “No problem, I’ll always be here for you. You can always tell me anything.”

“I’ll keep that in mind,” says Julian.

“Now, let's go get you ready for your partay!!!,” exclaims Nine, “Woot! Woot!” pulling Julian by the arm to his room.
