I was over-worked these days and with all the things I was going through trying to get pregnant I was tired. Me and Ricky been trying for ten years to get pregnant and nothing. Being from a big family Ricky always wanted at least five. I am happy with one. I had already lost a baby years ago and it seemed like I had been jinxed every since. Hell I was starting to consider adoption, but Ricky wanted our own baby. I wasn't really trying to sacrifice my size 9 body, but for my hubby I would do anything. I was sitting at my desk scrolling through my texts when my co-worker Patrice walked into my office.

""Hey Nay how you feelin today?"

"I'm good what you got in your hand I know it's for me." I said holding my hand out.

"Well here is your 11:00 and I just checked they are already in the building, but they got lost."

"Thanks Tricey I appreciate it."

"No problem," she said as she walked back out. I was about to open up the folder so I could at least be a little familiar with the case when my phone started vibrating. I looked and it was just hubby checking up on me. I smiled at the picture he sent me of my favorite scripture Psalms:3 I was still looking at my phone when I heard a knock. I put my phone in my top drawer.

"Well hello ladies please come in and have a seat. I looked at the mother who was obviously having a hard time walking. I felt bad for her because she couldn't have been much older than me and she was using a cane.  I gave her and her daughter time to sit in and get settled before I started.

"Can you close the door sugar?"

"Yes ma'am."

I looked at the girl who had to be a teen. She had on what appeared to be boys close with slightly ran over shoes, but I am not here to judge. She had long curly hair that hung down her back so I assumed she was bi-racial because her mother was brown-skinned and a little on the plump side.

"My name is Nadine Wise and you are," I said as I opened my folder, you are Navette Carlisle."

"Yes ma'am that's me."

I looked down at the paper again and back up at the girl and her mother.

"Ma'am are you her mother?"

"Oh no I am just watching her right now while her father is handling a legal situation."

I notice the look on the girls face and I did a quick scan of the case file. She had never been in the system. She was never in trouble before. Oh my God. I gasped as I read why she was here. It appeared her sister had died as of yesterday? I read about the abuse and then I saw the fathers name. OH MY GOD!!!

"Ma'am I am not allowed to disclose anything in front of you in regards to our interview I apologize."

"Oh no worries I kinda figured that I will go wait in the hall."

"Oh you don't have to do that there is a waiting room as soon as you walk out of my office make a left and go all the way down. I can buzz you on the intercom when we're done. "

After the lady walked out I took a deep breath because I was going to need it if I was going to interview............my daughter.
