tMs. Judy looked at me when she answered her phone then she stepped out onto the back porch to talk. Leroi got up to finish the eggs that she left cooking on high. I was left at the table with Curtis  who was engrossed in the newspaper. Leroi sat a plate of burnt eggs, bacon, and blackened biscuits in front of me. Wow Ms. Judy really couldn't cook I though to myself biting into the eggs. Leroi made himself a plate and sat next to me.

"I guess I will have to get my own breakfast." Said Curtis putting down his paper and rolling his eyes.

I immediately noticed that his eyes were arched better than mines. I held in a laugh as he sashayed over to the stove,

"Oh my no there is no turkey bacon here. Judith!!!!!"

Ms. Judy peeped her head through the back door. "Curtis I am on the phone!"

She slammed the door back, and Curtis grabbed his paper and stormed off upstairs.

"He is so damn dramatic," Uttered Leroi trying to chew through the rubbery eggs.

"Yeah I think he is more feminine than your mother.

" I gotta find out what the fuck else is in that box cause if this nigga is on some fag shit.........."

His voice trailed off as Ms. Judy burst through the back door.

"Navette I gotta take you downtown to talk to Child  protector Services."

I dropped my fork."What do they wanna talk to me for?"

"I will tell you about it on the way down there, but right now I need you to get dressed."

I sat in disbelief as she walked to the living room.

"Leroi what you think it is?"

"I don't know mama, but don't worry we gonna get to the bottom of itash.." He said grabbing our plates and scraping them in the trash.

I didn't even have anything decent to put on. I walked to the back porch and looked down to my apartment. It no longer looked like it could ever be home again. There was police tape sealing off the back porch so I knew that it had to be just as bad on the front. I walked back into the house to see Leroi and his mother at the front door. They were talking to two men in black suits and when the door closed behind me everybody turned to me.

"Is that the girl right there?" One of the men asked.

Ms Judy nodded her head sadly and let the men in.

"Navette baby come in here and have a seat. These two detectives need to talk to you."

I made my way into the living room and the two detectives sat down on the couch. One of them was a young black guy who looked like a pro football player. His muscles couldn't be hidden by the tailored suit he was wearing. He shot me a fake smile and clasped his hands together. The other one was an old white man with white hair who put me in the mind of Colonel Sanders. He pulled out a notepad from his inside pocket and a pen from his breast pocket.

"Ma'am if you and your son could step out we will only be a second." Said the black detective.

Leroi helped Ms. Judy up the steps and the it was complete silence until we heard the doors close upstairs.

"I am Detective Blaylock, and this is Detective Foster." Said The black detective.

"I know this is going to be hard, but I need you to tell me the truth as honestly as possible."

"Okay", I said swallowing the lump in my throat.
