It was Christmas day, one of Barry and Caitlin's favourite days of the year. They'd spent a good amount of the holiday season out, Christmas shopping, ice-skating, decorating their house and newly purchased Christmas Tree and setting up the Christmas lights on their home.
The two of them had even attended a Christmas Party at Hooly and Cisco's place last night. It was a huge party with what seemed like an endless amount of guests. Caitlin had no idea that Cisco and Holly knew so many people. They had a great time and shared many kisses underneath the mistletoe the whole night. She was even pleased with her seasonal outfit which was a red dress with little reindeers on. Around her neck, she wore the locket that Barry had bought her accompanied with red heels and a black jacket. And to match her style, Barry had worn a red flannel shirt and black jeans with his usual converse. They looked quite the pair together.
And this morning, Caitlin woke up, the room still dark due to the winter, laying with her lover, head on his chest. They both wore plaid red pyjama bottoms and Christmas socks and long-sleeved pyjama shirts. She smiled lovingly at him as he slept, his mouth a little open as he dreamt so soundly. She glanced at the alarm clock and saw the time. Eight O'clock. The curtains were still completely drawn so no light could get into the room.
Slowly, she leant forward and placed a soft kiss on his jaw then lips before snuggling down against him once again. She gripped him tighter, wanting as much warmth and closeness between them as possible. Laying here, in his arms was the best feeling she could ever experience and never wanted to leave. Nothing made her feel safer and protected then he did. Caitlin knew that he would never leave and that brought her more joy than he could possibly ever know. Spending all her time with him was more important than anything else.
Especially now as it was the holiday season and their first Christmas together at that. Not to mention that their one-year anniversary is coming up soon. She'd been planning something for a few weeks... a little surprise for him. For the both of them really. And she couldn't wait to do it and see his reaction to it all. Not only did she want the special day to be special and perfect for her, but she also wanted to please him too. Because this would be their day. And seeing him happy was one of the greatest joys in her life. His smile was one that made her heart skip a beat every time she saw it and lit up a whole room. And when he smiled at her it was the only thing she could in the whole world. She had fallen unconditionally in love with that smile. And him. And for as long as she shall live, she knew that would never change, never.
She let out a sigh of happiness as she felt him stir beneath her and a groan escape his lips, signalling that he was waking up. Moments later, his eyes flickered open and blinked a few times, adjusting to the light, or lack of.
"Morning, Merry Christmas, Bear," she whispered, leaning forward and pecking his lips softly. Smiling a small, innocent smile, she pulled away, lay back against his chest and rubbed her feet against his. Throughout the night, their feet had rested against each other, warm socks forming a barrier between their cold skin.
"Merry Christmas, Cait, you already look beautiful this morning," Barry mumbled in reply, rubbing one hand up and down her back, his arms around her waist tightening a little to bring her closer. Holding her was one of his favourite morning activities. The best part was that he was able to do it every morning, now and for the rest of their lives. And there was no better life than that to him.
Waking up every morning with her beside him, against him, her body so warm and frail. His own little treasure that he got to hold forever and ever and never let go of. The special woman in his life. Nobody, no other woman, could possibly ever replace her place in his heart. Caitlin Snow is special and perfect and everything that he had ever dreamt of and wanted. The love of his life and soulmate. Simply, they were meant to be together, Barry Allen and Caitlin Snow.
