Saturday - Chapter 4

I finished getting the girls ready and Gwen was done. I asked her to please take the girls downstairs so that I could go shower. She took Juliet and Isabel downstairs. I hopped into the shower in front of our rooms. The water felt good running down my body. The sound of the water made my thoughts go away and I felt at ease for once in my life. I finished showering and hopped out. I patted myself dry and I combed through my hair. I brushed my teeth and then I stepped out. I was going to walk into my room but something tugged at me. I looked around. No one in sight. I jogged to Richard’s room and I went inside. His room was clean and neat. I walked further in and noticed the pictures hanging on his wall. He had one with an older lady and another with an older man. There was one of him with a big group of people at what seemed like an amusement park. I noticed one on his nightstand. I walked over to it. It was of him and a girl. They were kissing as the picture was taken. I felt myself get upset. He was with someone already and he had lied to me. He looked genuinely happy and yet he seemed that way with me as well. I felt stupid. I was about to turn around and leave when I noticed a hot flash of red sticking out from under his bed. I bent over to pick it up. Ew! It was a red thong! I held it with the tip of my index finger and I got enraged. How had I been so stupid into thinking that we would work! I knew it was all to good to be true! That bastard. Suddenly I heard him walk in.

“Lola?” He asked.

I didn’t turn around I was too pissed.

“Well, you have some nice legs.” He said.

That’s it.  I turned around and he was smiling at first till he saw what I held.

“You pig!” I yelled at him and I threw the thong in his face and ran out to my room. I heard him call out to me but I got in and locked the door. I felt disgusted. I quickly put some clothes on and brushed my hair and put it up into a bun. I grabbed my bag and cell phone and unlocked the door and walked out. I crashed into Richard and he held me with his arms.

“Lola, that’s not how it looked like. Please let me explain.” He pleaded.

“Yea right! I was so stupid into believing all your little lines. I’m not like other girls Richard. Besides, I don’t want to be with you. I can’t. So it’s just freaking great that you have a girlfriend.” I said angrily. I pushed him off and he slammed into wall. I started to walk away but he grabbed my wrist and made me turn around.

“Lola! Listen!” He said annoyed.

I rolled my eyes and tried to pry my hand free.

“Look that was from one stupid night a long time ago. That was a mistake and only a onetime thing. I know you aren’t those type of girls, I would never even think of doing that with you! I really like you.” He said innocently.

“Yea right Richard. What about the picture of you and that girl kissing on your nightstand.” I threw back at him.

“That was my ex-girlfriend. She died of cancer a year ago.” He said sadly and looked away.

I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t know if he was lying. I doubt it because that would be a horrible joke.

“Richard, I’m sorry… I didn’t know.” I finally said.

“No it’s ok, It’s not your fault, I mean it does look pretty wrong, but I’m glad you let me explain.” He said looking at me.

“She must have been really special to you. I’m sorry for your loss.” I said and I patted his arm.
