It took only 5 minutes to get to the diner. Tommy was already parked and he was leaning against the back of his truck. I parked right next to him and I was startled when he opened my door and offered me his hand. I took it and smiled up at him.

“Wow, such a gentleman.” I giggled.

“Well, my parents brought me up that way.” He chuckled.

We walked into the diner and sat at the last booth. Lauren was working today and she was our waitress. She looked a bit shocked when she saw us. Especially me. Once she noticed me she had a big grin on her face. I blushed slightly thinking how we must look together, Tommy and I.

“Hey Lola!” she squealed.

“Hey Lauren! How is your shift?” I asked politely.

“They’re good, I’m getting off in an hour so I get to enjoy my Saturday a bit.” She smiled.

“That’s great. I think I have next Saturday’s shift…” I trailed off thinking about my work schedule and if that was true or not.

“Well, I’m just glad that I can get at least the rest of the day, I got a dinner date with my boyfriend.” She smiled dreamily and sighed content.

“Someone sounds head over heels.” I wiggled my eyebrows.

Tommy giggled and Lauren gave him a quick glare and laughed.

“Yea, I guess so…Well, anyways, what can I get you guys?” She asked pulling out her small notepad.

“I want a vanilla milkshake, please.” Tommy said closing the menu.

“And I want a oreo milkshake please and thank you.” I smiled sweetly at Lauren.

“Awesome, I’ll be right back with those shakes.” Lauren took the menus from us and cheerily walked away saying hello to another entering customer.

I shook my head thinking about she had dreamily thought about her boyfriend. I wished her the best, and at the same time felt a bit of envy. I wanted that happy grin on my face some day…hopefully when Lucas came home…

“So, why were you at Emily’s?” Tommy asked kneeing me slightly under the table.

“Oh, uhm, well she had offered me a room so I could move into.” I said leaving out my sisters.

“Oh alright, you trying to move out your parents house?”

“Yea…” I smiled.

“What? Your parents hold you down to much.” He laughed.

“Nah, but in a way.” I said trying to hide my uneasiness.

“What you mean?” he asked.

“Oh, it’s a bit complicated.” I stated.

“Well, I think you-“ Tommy got cut off by Lauren.

“Here are your drinks, I hoped you guys enjoy!” Lauren handed me my shake and then gave Tommy his shake as well.

“Thanks Lauren.” I smiled up at her.

“No problem, I’ll see you Monday.” She stated.

“Alright awesome.”
