Jason's First Christmas

***

"Pass the child!"

Drunk people on Christmas are always a weird bunch.

"Jason is a baby, not a toy."

"Jason is a baby, not a toy." Morgan snickers covering his face with his elbow to shield himself from Hotch's glare.

Emily comes in, per usual, with an understanding of both parties. "Babe," she's calm as she can she takes her fiance's arm. "Calm down, you're only being a little overprotective. Okay?" She turns to her intoxicated friends," guys, please don't break my son. We literally just got him back and if you break him then you'll probably break Aaron too and I just got him. So, please be careful."

Presents had already handed out. Hotch, as always, gave useful gifts. Gifts that would come in handy during the upcoming year and would drive them all crazy because how could he possibly know that Morgan's toolset is missing almost all its wrenches? How would he guess that Reid's bedside lamp would give out, finally?

Garcia's are thoughtful, cute. Book covers for Reid, to keep his books clean and their covers brighter. A new make-up purse for JJ, because she'd been using the same bag for years and it's gonna give out soon. Inspiring calenders with quotes (quirky things that Garcia had caught member of her team saying), because Rossi had expressed that he had a thing for calendars. Earmuffs for Hotch, that read BEST BOSS one word on each ear, that made him turn a shade of crimson that Emily had yet to see on him. Emily, in turn, got a Kurt Vonnegut book that she actually had not read and she got so excited she kissed Garcia began reading right away. Morgan got a book on how to fly a plane, after getting drunk one night he gave out a bit of information that he has always wanted to learn how to fly. He simply laughed and hugged Garcia.

With their ridiculous amount of gifts all over the floor, Jack and Henry fell asleep in the middle of the pile. Surrounded by fire, toys, and their family no one thought anything of it.

Jason is in a whole new world. Everything is so bright and he's not his mother or father's arms and he does get fed up with that but only after several hours of being passed around. After his great adventure, his mother comes and she takes him back to his crib, however, sometime later it's his father who comes back to his room to pick him up and feed him. He was not hungry and he didn't eat but he did fall asleep while his father rocked him.

Jason: Two Years Old

***

Jason couldn't remember a time when he had experienced a 'nightmare'. Everyone else seemed to have them. His mother had been the one to explain the concept. Nightmares are why Jack, his big brother, cries at night. Nightmares are why daddy looks like he got punched in the face when he wakes sometimes. Nightmares are the things that his mom knows how to fix. He's seen it.
