The afternoon was warm and comforting but the rest of the world was not. I walked up the flight of stairs with some tears falling down my cheek.
“Why did I even try to live... There is nothing here, but pain and misery,” I thought as I remembered what led to this moment.
"You're fired!" said my old employer when I dropped the plates and food I was carrying. I thought at the time, “Waiters didn't even get much of a paycheck anyways.” Afterwards, I went back home.
"We aren't going to keep supporting you. We want you out of here. Now!" my father said when I told them the news and they kicked me out. I didn't even get a chance to grab any of my things. I would of gone to my friends house to ask if I could stay. If only I had friends... I thought.
I finally reach the roof and I look around to see that no one is up there. This roof was where I would of gone whenever I had something bothering me. But this time... Is my last time here and this is where it will all end. I thought as I walk closer to the edge of the roof as more tears stream down my face. I can barely hear the cars below through my weeping.
I look down. Well... This is it. I thought as my foot reaches out over the edge. But I hear a gasp behind me. "No stop!" says a female voice that startles me and I lose my balance as I turn around. I see some white hair as I start falling and time seems to slow down. Looks like my fate had a twist in it anyways. To have someone there... Someone who seems to have cared for me... But it's too late now. I thought.
I felt something grab my arm and I look up to see a girl with white hair holding on to my arm. I keep looking at her, wondering who she was and why is she stopping me?
"Just let me go. I have nothing left here." I say weakly. She shakes her head with her eyes closed. "I'm not letting go! You are going to live!" She starts to pull me up which looks as though she is straining very hard so she could keep me alive.
I then look down at the street below me and something just hit me. I don't want to die yet. I look back up and look for something to hold on to. But I don't see anything in sight. I'm not going to make it... I look back at the girl. I don't want to take her with me. Maybe it's better if I die alone.
There is a faint glow coming from her and he looks at her as two wings appear behind her. The wings had white scales and was dragon-like.
She begins to flap her wings and lift him up as I look at her in shock. She then puts me down softly as I back away a bit, looking at her. "W-what are you!?" I ask with fear and uncertainty in my voice. "I'm a dragon. Even though I'm supposed to kill any human that sees me, I think... I'll let you live." she says a bit shyly but then smiles at the end.
I look at her in shock and I back away a bit more. "I won't tell anyone I swear!" She then looks at me with a smile that then fades. "Why did you want to do it?" she asks, gesturing to the ledge. "Oh... That. I was having a rough day... Along with a rough life." I said honestly. I mean my life is bad and my day just threw me off... I didn't finish that thought, shuddering.
She starts walking toward me and then hugs me as her wings appear and wrap around me. Wait what is she doing. I thought. "There is another dragon looking for something to eat." she whispers as I hear something large fly by us. Oh God! That is definitely something big. I thought shuddering a bit. Although she feels somewhat comforting... Why is that? She then lets go, blushing a bit and her wings vanish.
"It’s not safe here. How about we go to my place?" she says looking up at the sky. "Umm... Sure I guess." I say, following her eyes fearfully. "Ok then brace yourself."
I look at her as she turns into a graceful white dragon with blue eyes. "Hop on." she says with a slightly altered voice. I then walk around, looking at her. Well, I have nowhere else to go anyways. I thought as I hopped on top of her back.
She starts flapping her wings as I hold on tight. She flys away and towards a forest where a portal opens and we go through it.
