The room was dark, save the dim light of two candles as Yui paces back and forth worriedly. There was a single bed in the center of the room while to the right of the bed was some blankets set on the floor for Leon to sleep on. To the left of that was a single window that was dark as night started to fill the sky.
I looked out the window to see a couple of the soldiers from the empire by the main road out of the village. They were keeping watch for any unusual activity.
I then looked over at Yui who continued to pace back and forth with a worried look on her face.
Maybe I should try to comfort her, I thought. Not quite sure how though… Maybe I should ask more about this world.
“Hey, are you ok?” I ask nervously.
Yui looks at me then looks down. “I’m just a bit anxious with the empire here,” she says quietly. “I have never liked what the empire stood for. There is also the part where nothing good happens when they are nearby.”
“Are you sure that’s what is causing it?” I ask as I tilt my head a bit. “That woman in black gave me a bit of a fright as well…”
She looks up slightly then silently nods her head. She looks down again sadly as she goes deep into thought again.
Unsure of what to do, I walk over and then I slowly wrap my arms around her. She stiffened at the touch, but then she relaxed and started to wrap her arms around me.
She then started to weep as i softly pat her back. “I just don't want to go the same thing I went through back then,” she says softly.
“I won’t let them do anything to you,” I say softly. “I promise.”

After a while, Yui had wiped away her tears. She sat on her bed while I sat on my makeshift bed.
“Thank you…” Yui says. “I don’t know what came over me.”
“It’s ok,” I say. “You sometimes just need to let it out. I know a thing or two about that.”
A thing or two… I thought to myself. I definitely know some things about sadness…
“Are you ok?” Yui asks as she tilts her head slightly.
“Ya, I just still have some questions about this world.” I say. I don't want her to worry about me. She has enough on her plate.
We sat there talking a bit more about this world. Yui even taught me how to use magic. It was just a few simple spells that only really require thought. She goes to explain that harder spells require special words to use them. She didn't explain much more due to being tired from today.
I decided to try to get some sleep as I lay on the bed. I then look to my hand as I summon a little bit of water magic. The water flows around my hand softly.
I never knew magic would be like this. I thought as I stare at the water flowing between my fingers. I just hope I don’t have to use it in a bad way…
After awhile, I start to slowly drift to sleep.

I start to wake up to the smell of something burning and I look over to see Yui waking up too. She rushes to start packing her stuff and I rush to do the same. After I finish, I glance outside the window to see flames.
Yui and I rush outside the inn to see the whole village is in flames. As buildings collapse and what appears to be small flames running around.
