Chapter 2: A dragon awakened

I hold on tightly as I look around to see trees. A vast number of trees. The white dragon looks back at me for a second, and then looks foward and starts to fly higher into the air.

I look around to see a forest that dosen't seem to end. I also spot other dragons flying in the distance, and some birds flying around. The wind on my face was a bit cold but it wasn't that bad.

I then see a small clearing and we start to glide down to the clearing. She starts flapping her wings a bit faster as she nears the ground, causing the grass to bend in all directions from the beating of her wings.

When she lands, she bends down so I could get off. I turn around after I get off to see that the dragon was now the girl with white hair.

I look at her curiously. She had blue eyes and pale skin. She was also a bit shorter than me.
"Is something wrong?" she says with a soft voice.
"I uh... Don't know your name." I said as my eyes look back at hers.
"Oh ya. My name is Yui, what's yours?" she says smiling.
"My name is Leon." I said while rubbing the back of my neck with my right hand nervously. "Can I ask where are we?"
"This is the world of magic and dragons. My home isn't too far from here." she says as she motions toward one direction.

I look around curiously. I see trees surrounding us and I hear the chirping of birds as they fly around. Then I look back at her. I remeber that she mentioned that normally if any humans saw her. They would be killed. I shuddered at the thought.

"So what did you mean back there. When you said that normally you would have to kill me?" I said, fearful of what she might say. She tilts her head and then looks down.
"Because humans tend to overreact when they see dragons. And not to mention I had some.... History with some." she says with some pain in her voice. "But you seem different, so I'm not going to kill you." she says as she looks back up and smiles.

She then takes one of my hands. "Come on, we have to go before the hunters come." she says as she starts to pull me towards the direction of her place eagerly. I was a bit surprised but I let her lead me in that direction.

We keep going for a few minutes. Then I hear some yelling in the distance. "What's that." I said, a bit startled and I look towards her. She was looking just as scared, with her eyes wide.
"Those are hunters." she said as she seems to start to calm herself down. "Wait here. I'll go take care of them. They are getting a bit too close to my home." she says as she starts walking in the direction of the yelling.

I wait there for a few minutes and I'm starting to worry now. What is taking her so long? I thought. I then hear a roar coming from the same direction. That must be her! She is in trouble! I thought as I start running over there.

As I got closer, I hear the men talking and a dragon grunting with chains rattling. I get behind a tree and peek around it. I see five men dead and bloodied, and six more men still alive. Five of them were keeping a white dragon chained down while one of the walked closer with a pistol in his hand.

"Did you really think you can just come and kill some of my men and live to tell about it?" says the man with the pistol. The dragon then stops struggling and glares at the man. The man then looks back and then looks a bit surprised.

"Well well. Looks like we got ourselves a very special dragon here." he says grinning. "My lord will pay a very special price for you. Although..." he starts to walk back a bit and shrugs. "He did say to keep you alive." he then looks back and smirks. "He didn't say anything about missing limbs though." he says as he starts laughing along with the other men.

I have to do something but what!? I thought as I look around desperately to find something that I can use. I then see next to the nearest body, was a sword. No I can't do that! I can't kill someone! I thought as I put my back against the tree.

I can hear Yui struggling more and I hear someone pulling out a sword, laughing hysterically. Then I hear a voice in my head saying. "She will die if you do nothing. This is where the crossroad of fate shows itself. Will you stay and watch? Or will you go and save her?" Then the memory of her saving me came into my mind. I knew right then and there what she might mean to me.

I quickly ran to the sword on the ground and picked it up. Full of anger, I ran the sword through the back of one of the men that chained Yui down. I took the sword out and rushed another man. "What the hell!?" says the main man as I stab another one of his men.

Yui then broke loose and starts clawing at the other men. I turn and look towards the main man. He looked shocked and angrily took out a sword that had black mist surrounding it.

"It seems like she has a little friend." he says as he starts grinning again. "I haven't had so much fun in years!!" he starts laughing hysterically that ends with his tongue sticking out and his eyes wide. Oh god. He's mad! I thought.

He then rushes at me with a lot of speed and I managed to deflect the blow. He then punches me and follows up with a kick that knocks me back. I stand there gasping for breathe.
"Aww... What's wrong, what happened to that fire from earlier go?" he says mockingly as he rushes at me again and I try to deflect the sword but it manages to scratch my arm. Which he then follows up with several swings that cuts my legs and my other arm.

He then pulls out his pistol and points it to my head. "I tire of this now." he says frowning. "Any last words?"

Many thoughts crossed my mind at that moment. I thought of the events that led to this. I thought as I remember my suicide attempt. Then I thought of Yui as she smiles at me when we landed. No! I will not die today! I thought.

The man then stumbles back a bit. "What the hell?..." he says as he looks shocked. Then my vision goes white but I hear yelling and the clashing of swords. Then everything goes black.

Yui just finished slashing the men as she looks back and sees Leon all bloody and wounded. Then small dewdrops of water start to float and swirl around him.

He grabs another sword and rushes at the hunter with the swords at incredible speed. What is this? How is he doing this? She thought as she reverts back into human form.

Both Leon and the hunter move with great speed as their swords clash. "This sword was a gift from my lord himself and I will not die with it in my hands!" the hunter says.

Yui watches as they keep fighting. Eventually Leon knocks the hunter's sword out of his hand but Leon keeps slashing the air, towards the hunter. Wait, why hasn't he stopped fighting? thought Yui.

The hunter starts running but trips on the way. Leon is still slashing the air. "Leon." she says but he is still going. "Leon?" she says once more but he is still going. She starts to panic and runs up behind him and disarms him. She then turns him around to see that his eyes were different. They looked like they were for a snake.

Her eyes go wide as she realizes what he is and then puts him to sleep with a small sleeping spell. He falls over with his eyes closed.

She softly brushes her hand against his face as she starts to turn into a dragon. She carries him towards home. I hope he will be ok...
