It was, by far, the worst day ever.

By the time his groaning car came to a stop in the middle of barely moving traffic, Cameron had come to the conclusion that the day couldn't have gotten any worse.

Slept in late, struggled to start the car, sat in long ques of traffic and being late to work didn't even begin to cover the trouble he'd had. Despite also not being much of a person for road rage, the veins protruding from his forehead and his flushed cheeks revealed he'd had gotten far more miffed than usual.

A few horns blasted around him as they swerved around his stationary car and all he could do was look embarrassed as his hand fumbled around in the satchel on the passenger seat for his phone. The pressure for that day was big- he had work to get to which was still half an hour away and he couldn't afford to miss a day, literally; to call a girl from the night before and then a car to get to the mechanics because it'd broken down.

Cameron finally manged to locate his phone deep down in the mysterious black hole of a bag and he hurriedly unlocked it. The mechanics were always on speed dial because his car liked to frequently fail on him several times a month. While the great need for a new car was evident, Cameron had not only the problem of not having the time or much money but also, he had a slight attachment to the thing. It was his first car, given to him by his parents and it meant a lot.

Before he knew it, his phone was already calling the mechanics and so he impatiently waited for it to go through, tapping his fingers distractedly on the steering wheel.

They finally answered and Cameron breathed a sigh of relief.

"Good morning, We Care Auto Repair here. How can I help you?" The rough voice on the other end was a little breathless as if he'd rushed to the phone. Cameron recognised the voice but it wasn't the mechanic's shop owner he usually spoke to, so it was probably the apprentice they'd recently hired that he'd seen once or twice before.

"Hi, I'm afraid I've broken down on the main road just a couple miles from you guys. Do you reckon you could come and tow me?" Cameron asked and then held his breath. They were the only mechanics for miles around and so were usually rather busy. If they couldn't  get his car as soon as possible, there was no way he'd make it to work and that would mean his whole day would be put to a stop.

"Ah mate, I'm really sorry to hear that but uh, we're jam packed today..." The man trailed off and Cameron dropped his head and sighed.

"Really? Oh that's just great. I'm really stuck here." Cameron deadpanned, turning away from a driver giving him evils. He'd just lost his only chance at a functional day. Cameron was due at work that morning and it was already noon.

"Like I said, sorry. We can get to you this evening but till then.. it's impossible." The man sounded apologetic and he was still a tad breathless, Cameron noted. He was probably super busy and just being on the phone meant longer until his car could be picked up.

Cameron decided to give in, there wasn't much he could do about it. "Right, when is the soonest you can get here?"

"Uh," the line goes quiet for a moment. "Is eight this evening going to be okay?"

Cameron quietly scoffs. "Are you joking? That's hours away and it'll be dark by then!"

"Oh if you're going to be that way about it, we can make it tomorrow morning instead..." The guy retaliated but Cameron cut over him.

"No, no! This evening will be fine." He gave in a second time and shook his head to himself in the mirror.

"Excellent. See you then, we'll call you, loser..." and the rest was mumbled.
