No network coverage. Please try again.
Cameron stared at his phone in disbelief. Not even a few steps back he thought he'd recalled having had full bars and suddenly they had vanished. With a glance at the time he knew there was no time to waste, he had to deliver the flowers and there was still no coverage as the journey to the park continued.
He tried to focus on people that came into sight as he guessed there would be quite a few people roaming around the area the wedding would take place. So far the place was rather deserted.
Just as he was about to shove it in his pocket, giving up on making the final call momentarily, the phone blared at him again. Guessing that the network coverage had recovered as quickly as it had gone, he pressed the screen to answer call after noting it was Agnes calling him.
"Cam, dear? Are you near at all? Turns out the flowers haven't been the only problem we've had today." She sounded exhausted.
"Yeah, two minutes away." Cameron quickly reassured her. "How can I help with the other problems?"
"Only two minutes? That's good. I'll speak to you when you get here." She said bypassing his offer to help. "No Freddie! Put it there!" Her voice sounded further from the phone just as it had earlier. Knowing that she must have been incredibly busy, Cameron agreed to speak when he arrived and hung up.
It was then he noticed the network coverage really was back. Obviously, though, as he wouldn't have been able to take the call. The park was now all around him as he entered through it's ingeniously designed gates, made to compliment the beauty of the water fountains. It was much busier than a typical day but seeing as there was to shortly be a wedding there, that meant made sense.
Cameron spotted a big group of people hanging, and what looked like fussing, around a long white silky fabric making it's way down along the ground to the biggest of the water fountains. He assumed that was the isle.
His phone beeped briefly, telling him a text had come through. It was from Agnes.
Call if you can't find me.
Cameron chuckled at her mothering because there was no way he could miss the huge group that were gathering to create the perfect wedding. There was also the guarantee that as this wedding would be a little unconventional, aside from the bride, Agnes would be right there in the middle of it all, so he knew exactly where to look.
Still a minute away though, Cameron couldn't help but find himself staring at the final number he had left to call. His phone was still clutched in his palm and he couldn't bring himself to put it away. The fact that the network was then available meant there was nothing to stop him calling. There was also a chance he'd be stuck at this wedding for the rest of the day, not that he minded, and that would mean he'd have to make the call the next day when everything returned to normal.
If he was going to call, he had to do it right then.
He stopped thinking and pressed the call button again.
It began ringing.
The crowd he was quickly approaching, disturbed the silence he had indulged in all afternoon and made it harder to tell whether the call had been answered. Some noticed he had the flowers they obviously very desperately needed and came rushing over, causing some guests to go silent while watching the commotion.
Over the sound of the lowering volume of the crowd, a phone could be heard ringing.
It was then that Cameron found his eyes settling on the most entrancing woman he'd ever seen before. Her dark hair was left unruly down her back, seemingly reaching the floor and he couldn't look away from the dress she wore; not that that was what had trapped him though.
He'd seen this beauty before and he couldn't believe it was her again.
Surrounded by a frenzy of women and a couple of girls dressed in things similar to her, she seemed up tight, just like the moments before he'd spilt the coffee all over her. It was a relief to see she had something else to wear and wasn't stuck in a sticky mess all day.
Agnes suddenly appeared out of nowhere and came over with an arm around a girl dressed all in white and they marvelled over the flowers he absentmindedly held. His eyes however, remained on the girl further back who began to turn around in pursuit of the other similarly dressed girls who were following the bride around.
And the bride was right in front of him.
She had a ringing phone clutched in her hand, not that he could tell that's what it was at that very moment. Her movements copied that of what Cameron could only assume were bridesmaids, while she focused more on raising that phone to her ear.
The call Cameron had held to his ear the whole time suddenly went through.
"Hello?"
Cameron didn't say anything at first. Granted, she was a little way off but his gaze was stuck on her mouth that moved at the same time the voice in his ear spoke. She repeated herself and just as Cameron went to reply, their eyes met.
"Hey."
That time she went quiet.
She finally flinched when a bridesmaid tapped her and everything that had come to a slow around them suddenly jumped back into action. The echo of the loud crowd and hustle of panic for the wedding was brought back to their senses.
He blinked.
She blinked.
"It's you."
