They had danced for what felt like forever and despite not seeing each other for almost two decades, it felt like no time had passed at all. They had even danced side by side with the bride and groom just before the newly married couple had then been quickly whisked off in a decorated car so they wouldn't miss their honeymoon flight.
Suddenly, nearing the end of what must have been the thousandth song they had danced together to, Cameron's watch blared at him.
The big hand hit twelve as the small hit five.
Five PM.
Cameron jumped away from Noli, mid dance, when a realisation washed over him and he was sent flying into the couple beside them. He quickly recovered and went running to the exit of the tent, passing Agnes on the way and grabbing his stuff.
Magnolia wasn't far behind, and she nabbed him before he could even take the first step out.
"I've got to go, I'm afraid." His watch beeped at him again.
Magnolia chuckled through the hand she held over her mouth. "I thought Cinderella had until midnight. Not till five."
"Well, she didn't have a car that was about to be towed away." He retorted, trying to be lighthearted but the stress was seeping through. Afraid of what would happen should he miss the mechanics, Cameron stared out into the distance where the park merged with the main road.
"Still, I can't believe you were going to try and leave without a proper goodbye!"
Cameron offered a sheepish grin. "I have your number, don't I?"
Magnolia shot a squint at him. "Maybe so, but to save us from losing any shoes or having to deal with ugly step sisters, can I just come with you?"
"You've forgotten about my wicked stepmother." Cameron replied in suit, still stepping away.
"I'm sure I can handle her should there be a need to." She answered and followed behind him once Agnes has been informed they were both leaving.
It was a fast paced sort of sprint they had going, the wedding outfits preventing any actual running from happening, but they were at his car within a quarter of an hour. Red faced and out of breath, Cameron handed over the keys so the mechanic could take a quick look.
As soon as the mechanics were sure of the fact Cameron's car wasn't about to drive at any point in the near future, the car was hooked up and readied to be towed away. The offer to take him back home still stood but Cameron had new plans.
He watched his retreating car as the tow-van started up and once it was gone, he faced Magnolia and took her arm.
"How does drinks sound?"
Noli grinned, "wonderful. Although coffee sounds much better after the day I've had." She replied, then also explaining how there had been enough alcohol ingested at the wedding that afternoon.
"Good idea."
"Besides, I know the best coffee shop in the whole world and it's right around the corner."

The smell of the coffee was instantly sobering despite Cameron having only had half a glass of champagne. He wished the coffee smell wasn't giving him such a clear head because his mind had been on overdrive from the minute the coffee shop had been in sight.
Simply because it was the very same one he'd visited a few hours back.
Noli ran straight over to the counter and ordered 'the usual' indicating it was a place she frequently visited permitted she was in town, considering her recent travels. Cameron had been stood close behind her but with it being his turn to order, there was no hiding place available.
