When you think that someone is or was easy, then it definitely went wrong. There's no way, that there might be something too simple, when a mission comes to Avengers. A mission like that could be solved by S.H.I.E.L.D. alone, then why would they need Avengers? For some unknown reason, no one could answer that. But, here they were, sitting in a quinjet, with the mission done.
Everyone was quiet, with their ears perked, if there was just one unusual sound or noise. Something, that could prove them wrong, that this mission was something more, than just arrive at almost empty place, with no more than ten Hydra agents. This kind of mission could be handled just by Clint and Natasha alone... Or any other duo in the Avengers tower. Damn, even Parker alone could do something like this, then why were they sent? They could have a free day for God's sake! No, they had to waste four hours, getting into the 'secret' base, twenty minutes to clear it, because they were slacking off. Then another twenty minutes, looking around if that was seriously everything and now another four hours to the tower. And half of a day went in waste.
"I mean... It was suspicious, when they said, it will be an easy mission, right?" Steve suddenly spoke, looking at others. He really didn't think, it would end up like this. He actually thought, there might be something more. Or he was getting really paranoid... Every since he got his best friend back, he was more alert about every move Hydra made.
"Wait, wait, wait..." Tony actually stepped out of his suit, since he was still wearing just in case, there was a need for him to fly out right away. He stood up right in front of Cap to look at him, studying his face for any signs of joke. "Are you telling me, you took the mission, without actually listening to them and considering it?" he asked, placing his hands on his hips.
"How should have I known, it would be actually that easy?" Steve raised his hands defensively, looking at everyone for a support. No one, however, could respond in time when Tony opened his mouth again.
"What did they tell you, when you received the file?"
"Well... They said, they need to help with this one, because they weren't sure about the place, but since there's nothing much around the place, it should be easy." Cap semi-quoted, sitting down on a bench.
"And you couldn't risk it..." Sam nodded, seeming to understand, why Steve made this kind of decision. They all had an idea why.
Natasha sighed, looking towards Bucky, who just sat there without saying anything. Every since, he entered the base and tower, everyone was giving him a cold shoulder. Everyone, except Steve. Of course, she understood, how they both felt about his. She could feel Clint's hand on hers. She glanced at him, seeing Clint giving her a courageous smile.
There was only one person, who could understand her fully and could listen to her. Her best friend and to some extent, a lover. They weren't officially in a relationship and didn't actually showing much their affection for each other, so there were no questions from others.
"You never know, when it comes to Hydra..." Steve shrugged, looking at Sam, smiling slightly, thankful that there was someone, who understood him.
"Okay, enough, boys." Natasha said loudly for everyone to hear her. She did have her opinion on this situation, so Cap wasn't in this alone at all. "Steve is right, it smelt fishy even to me." she said, running hand across her face and through her hair.
