One day, Buddha and his followers were passing by a lake. Buddha called one of his disciples and said, "I'm thirsty. Do get me some water from the lake." At that moment, a bullock cart started crossing through the lake. As a result, the water became muddy and turbid. The disciple figured out that he couldn't give Buddha such muddy water to drink. So he came back and told Buddha about the water's condition. After about an hour, Buddha asked the same disciple to go back to the lake. The disciple reached the lake and saw that the water was still muddy. So he went backed and told Buddha the same. Again after an hour, the same disciple was sent back to the lake. By that time, the mud had settled down and the water became clean and clear. So he collected some water into a pot and brought it to Buddha. Buddha looked at the pot and said, "Look what you did to make the water clean. You let it be, and it settled on it's own. Now you have clear water. Your mind is like that too! When it is disturbed, just let it be. Give it a little time, it'll down on it's own..."
