My first day started off pretty rough but by the time lunch came everything was better. At lunch Scott came and sat with me, which caused people to shoot glares at me.
“Ignore them. They are just jealous of how awesome you are.” Scott said, trying to cheer me up.
“Thanks. Why are you being so nice? You are like the most popular guy in school and I am just a nobody.” I hung my head feeling like I was about to cry, but I didn’t; thank goodness.
“You don’t deserve to be treated so rudely just because you are new. Plus you are nice and sweet and pretty…fun to hang around.” He said then laughed awkwardly and rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
I blushed and I knew it so I tried to hide my face.
“Thank-you! You are also very nice, sweet, and pretty cool.”
I hope he didn’t notice me blushing. He is so cute and nice and his eyes are such a brilliant blue colour. Just like the guy’s eyes in my dream.
I guess I zoned out because Scott was calling my name.
“Nat. Nat? Are you okay?” Scott asked with worry covering his face.
“What…yeah totally. Sorry I’ve been zoning out a lot since I left Phoenix.” I lied.
“Okay. You really scared me. I use to have a friend that would ‘zone out’ and when he came back to reality he would freak out and start to cry. People starting making fun of him because of it and it broke my heart. It got to where it was too much for him and he just killed himself. I am probably exaggerating, but I cried for days.”
By this time he was tearing up and moved over to my side and laid his head on my shoulder, while I hugged him and rubbed his back.
“He was like my brother; I cared for him and I was pretty much his family. His family kicked him out because they thought he was weak. So I took him in.” He continued.
By now he was crying but he was trying to hold back so I got up and took him to the boys’ bathroom. I didn’t mind going in there and I didn’t know why.
“Scott, it’s okay to cry. Just let it out, but I have to ask. Why are you telling me this?” I asked him as I held his hands in mine why he sat on the counter trying to control his tears.
“I don’t know but I do know that I can trust you by the way you act.” He said quietly.
“You can always trust me. Just come and get me or call me if you are upset or if you want to hang out or anything.” I said.
“Okay thanks. But one thing.” He said smiling.
“And what is that?”
“I don’t have your number.”
“Oh ha-ha. Here’s my phone; type in your name and number.”
He did what I said and handed it back to me. He soon got a text which said, ‘Now you have my number. –Nat’
